As for the EU, the elites that run it are a bunch of fanatics that think that Charlemagne is the greatest thing since sliced bread. The economic thingy is strictly for the purpose of gaining more power for the elite class, and of course to weaken who they see as enemies (the USA being chief among them, don’t be fooled).
