SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA, May 29, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – A PR hand for Planned Parenthood, who is running as a Democratic candidate for state legislature, has been cited for DUI and Careless Driving after police say she collided with a seven-year-old girl who was riding her bike through a crosswalk.

Carmen Toft, 32, is the South Dakota Public Affairs Manager at Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota (PPMNNDSD). She is also running for the Democratic nomination in the state House of Representatives in District 10.

The accident occurred last Tuesday at the corner of Eighth Street and North Chicago Avenue in Sioux Falls.

Involved in killing babies, why not be involved in running over children when drunk.

Sounds like a Democratic candidate with faults some Democrats will overlook because she involved with Planned Parenthood and will support abortion.

Sioux Falls Police spokesman Sam Clemens said Toft refused to take a breathalyzer test on the spot, telling police the girl “came out of nowhere.”

Could it be driving drunk impaired her ability to stop in time?

Toft has actively campaigned against state pro-life measures since at least 2006, according to local media. On her Twitter feed, she also endorsed “marriage equality.”

In her defense, (1) the girl didn’t die, which is a better outcome than for almost any unborn child she runs across, and (2) in any case there is no moral difference between killing an unborn baby girl and running over a little girl.

For a Democrat, the little girl was in a crosswalk, so that means the little girl was fair game...

The woman needs to paint pictures of children and bicycles on her car to to keep a running count of those she has run over...

Sioux Falls police confirmed Tuesday that Carmen Toft, a 32-year-old Planned Parenthood employee on the ballot for a District 10 House seat, was cited May 22 after the collision at Eighth Street and North Chicago Avenue.

South Dakota Democratic Party Chairman Ben Nesselhuf said late in the day that Toft had decided to withdraw from the race before the arrest, however.

The MADville Times has an article on Carment Toft. Some claim she is still on the ballot or has to be.

From the Madville posting, one person comments that she cannot withdraw until after the primary (according to state law):

May be a technical maneuver, Stace. She says she’s withdrawing, but it’s not official until Gant gets papers. My read of state law is that the party only gets to fill the spot if a candidate withdraws after the primary. It appears Toft needs to hold that place until next week Wednesday.

I would think that this should make a more attractive Democrat candidate...possibly showing promise for national office.

Could it be being drunk impaired her ability to stop in time from hitting the ugly stick several times?

The Argus Leader has some good information on this.

But according to state law, she is still considered a candidate.

From the Argus Leader article:

Candidates cannot withdraw until after the June 5 primary, meaning that Toft is a candidate until the Republicans choose their District 10 candidates.

However, the Argus Leader contends no one was injured, but the little girl was transported for possible internal injuries. According to the LifeSiteNews.com article, it is unknown if the girl is injured at this point...
