The trial wasn’t covered extensively so I’m only going by the statement made by one of the US officials today on FNC. He said their hands were tied and the jurors were kept in the dark on many of the details they could not bring to light.

More likely that 1. or 2.: 3. Prosecution successfully drained the defendant’s funds in the first trial, so the defense consists of a Public Defender.
