Alongside Obama, George W. Bush Steals the WH Show

It's Barack Obama's house now, but his predecessor and political foil, George W. Bush, stole the show at the White House on Thursday with his wisecracks and grin.

"Thank you so much for inviting our rowdy friends to my hanging," the former president said, referring to members of his family and former staff, invited back to the executive mansion for the unveiling of his and Laura Bush's official portraits. "Behave yourselves," he jokingly admonished his crowd.

Bush told the current president he was pleased to know "that when you are wandering these halls as you wrestle with tough decisions, you will now be able to gaze at this portrait and ask, 'What would George do?'"

Class trumps trash.

It was enough to bring tears to your eyes to see and hear Dubya and Laura juxtaposed with those two whining, traitorous grifters.

President Bush had his flaws, as would human being. But he and Mrs. Bush conducted themselves with class. They maintained the dignity the Office of President should have. They commanded respect. I always will call him President. I can't respect the current gangsta in the White House or his homegirl wife.

Everything is treated like “a show” now.

Salve

This is what I am talking about. With classical dignity and humor, you have fun, not like insulting my bests friends from Poland and other countries. Sir Bush, you are showing classical truth and respect.

I love it, one good smile from this Romanian man for you sir.

Merci

It's Barack Obama's house now

So wrong I can't even describe it. It's the People's House. Always has been and damn well had always better be.

Interesting that ABC punctuated every single Bush joke with an annoying gong.

ABC editors would never do that to their Great Sacred One.

The first step to becoming an ABC editor is making certain you’re a Republican-hating pig.

0baMao is humorless and could never conceive of engaging in the kind of self-deprecating humor that President Bush so graciously delivers. The contrast between the two is striking.

I certainly miss him.

I think history will be very kind to W. and, when he passes, people will line the streets like they did for Reagan.

Have you ever met a progressive with a sense of humor ,especially the self depreciating type humor? If a progressive cracks jokes, they always seem to be jabs at others, like something Bill Maher would say.

The current narcissist in chief cannot be self effacing. Honestly, I believe he's too insecure. In his heart 0bama knows he's in over his head, and he hates the job. He loves the perks , and he's right at home in government housing, but he's not at all at ease with the actual job of President. Think back to that press conference when Bill Clinton took over. You could tell Slick Willie LOVED the crowd , while Baraq looked wooden.

Obama’s stale attempts at humor totally fell flat. Can ANYTHING work for this clown this month?

Laura speaking

still trying to find an actual closeup of the paintings! Rediculous that the press doesn’t really shoe the paintings. Such paintings were ALWAYS shown up close.

The media just can’t bring itself to show ANYTHING that might take attention away from bummer - probably had orders directly from him...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGS73mP92-o

this one show both George and Laura - AND the standing ovations they got

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=vvcIsbQuAnc&NR=1

Not only a slap in the face to us - but to the artist - that they don’t show us the portraits - they should lead the videos...
