The Justice Department sent a letter to Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner Thursday evening demanding the state cease purging its voting rolls because the process it is using has not been cleared under the Voting Rights Act, TPM has learned.
DOJ also said that Florida’s voter roll purge violated the National Voter Registration Act, which stipulates that voter roll maintenance should have ceased 90 days before an election, which given Florida’s August 14 primary, meant May 16.
Five of Florida’s counties are subject to the Voting Rights Act, but the state never sought permission from either the Justice Department or a federal court to implement its voter roll maintenance program. Florida officials said they were trying to remove non-citizens from the voting rolls, but a flawed process led to several U.S. citizens being asked to prove their citizenship status or be kicked off the rolls.
Six members of Congress wrote Gov. Rick Scott earlier this week demanding that he stop purging the state’s voting rolls since the process improperly flagged numerous individuals who were eligible to vote.
“To enable us to meet our responsibility to enforce federal law, please inform us by June 6 of the action that the State of Florida plans to take concerning the matters discussed in this letter,” Christian Herren, chief of the voting section of DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, wrote in the letter obtained by TPM. “Specifically, please advise whether the State intends to cease the practice discussed above, so that the Department can determine what futher action, if any, is necessary.”
The States need to start standing up to this crap. Ignore them or tell them to go pound sand!

When Obama loses, the election will be declared null and void because blacks and other “oppressed” people were improperly scrubbed from the voter rolls. And the MSM will join in.

Perhaps a multi-state lawsuit by a group of Attorney Generals would do the trick.

I posted a thread the other day on the worthless Florida Demonrats Alcee Impeached Hastings and Ted Deutch-bag...they had found some 90 year old man who had gotten a letter from the Democrat Supervisor of Elections in Broward County, telling him he needed to straighten out his registration or he would be removed.
The ‘rats crybabies suddenly tried to make him a victim and Rick Scott an eeeeevil person. The media sucked it up and trumpeted how horrible it was for the government to make sure the voter rolls were correct.
Ah...here is Rick Scott’s opening to go all 10th Amendment on the commies in DC. Perry did it, Walker did it, Jindal, too. Scott can score big if he takes advantage of this.

but what is even more important is the fact that states that have been slipping into the democratic collumn in recent decades don’t come back... and no traditional democratic states seem to be trending Republican... this is very worrying... because as soon as enough illegal flood us here to Texas to flip it Democratic... it’s game over for the Republican party unless we can start flipping some blue states into red ones consistantly.

For the life of me I cannot understand that whenever there is an attempt to instill a little integrity and honesty in voting democrats/liberals go into full freak out mode. Why is that? And it cannot simply be those folks are counting on cheating to win. And I cannot accept that only those folks care about disenfranchising people either. I want everyone who is lawfully permitted to vote to vote.

As far as I’m concerned, the DOJ can go ‘blank’ itself. Voters are a state issue. The state has the authority to delete non-citizens and non-existant people from the voter rolls, as well as duplicates and people that already vote in other states.
The ‘rats want to keep as many illegal votes as possible so that they have a snowball’s chance of winning a second term. Fact is, without massive voter fraud, Obambi wouldn’t have won his first election. There just aren’t enough stupid people around to elect such a moron.
The five counties in Florida that the VRA covers are: Collier, Hardee, Hendry, Hillsborough and Monroe.
This August primary sounds like a state and or local election and not federal.

The state instructed the county Supervisors of Elections to go through their rolls and clean it up. The state did not order the person off the roles, it was the county Supervisor of Elections who created the mess and it appears certain individuals were chosen to create the story we now have.

I am hoping that Gov Scott holds the line on this one. Here in Broward Co our SOE “Dr” Brenda Snipes spoke in circles at a news conference about this issue. Best I could tell was that she was dragging her heels as hard as she could in hopes that Mr Holder would issue an order and save the day. Her PHD came to her the same way that obama’s early fame came to him IMHO. She certainly does not speak like a PHD.
Oh and I would like to thank Charlie “lite loafers” again for his appointment of our SOE. When the last one got thrown out of office (I forget why and don’t feel like looking it up...doesn’t matter anyway) he had such an opportunity to give this great big dem county a breath of fresh air and see what would happen. Yet what does he do? thats right, appoint yet another dem of the same color so as not to offend anyone. And now we are stuck with her since she is smart enough to make militant decisions without appearing to be militant.
I would be very grateful if one of the legal eagles that hang out here would explain to me how we can have a law that requires 11 states to be treated differently than the other 39?
What the Democrat media doesn’t bother to mention is that anyone can vote using a provisional ballot.
Nothing is perfect and the rolls need to be purged from time to time. If MR 91yo whiny Democrat shows up at the polls and isn’t listed, he can vote provisionally and if necessary provide supporting documentation after the election.

Well, consider that fraudulent voting is probably just the most obvious scam the Dems use; if it gets deep sixed, it may open Pandora’s Box and more scams will come to light.
I believe the 91 year old vet was told to contact them within 30 days if this was not correct. He did contact them didn’t he? Are there others?

That 91-year-old vet did not get knocked off the rolls. He was sent a letter requesting that he confirm his info. Why? Turns out — and he admits to this now — that way back in the day, he lied about his age to the DMV so that he could get his driver’s license two years early. So, his DMV records did not match up with his voter registration record. It is reassuring that this raised a red flag and that FL followed up on it.

IMO at some point in time all the current voter registration logs need to be destroyed and anyone who wants to vote needs to re-register in person.
In the 2008 election, Nevada election officials ‘caught’ ACORN with over 400,000 phony registrations. Alledgely, those people were not allowed to vote......
There are less than 3 million people total in Nevada.
Having ‘caught’ over 400,000 ellegals registrations is a huge percentage versus the entire state population, IMO.
It took the Nevada AG- a suck up to Obama’s rear end supporter—over 2 years to prosecute & fine ACORN.
