County elections supervisors raised red flags, and then federal authorities weighed in Thursday to demand the state of Florida halt its ongoing push to remove thousands of voters from the rolls.

The U.S. Department of Justice sent a letter contending Florida's efforts to identify people who are not U.S. citizens violates federal voting laws.

The Justice Department letter also says removing voters from the rolls less than 90 days before a federal election violates federal law. The letter gives Florida until Wednesday to tell federal authorities whether they plan to halt the purge.

Response: "Nuts."

So..identifying people that are breaking the law is now a crime? A Federal Crime? Or is it simply that Obama and the Democrats feel that without the dead and the illegal vote they can’t win the election?

Hillborough officials? Hillborough officials?

Morons, its Hillsborough!

And, of course, as the liberal (Tampa) area that they represent, they have to push back in their own self interests, namely to keep the dead & illegal voters on the roles - without them & Pravda - oops, excuse me - The Tampa Tribune - they might have to find real jobs...

Now remember folks, this is where the RNC in its infinite wisdom, decided to hold a convention!
Iceberg dead ahead...

What is telling is that this "news" paper prints this without a raised eyebrow or telling its readers what section of federal voting law this "violates".

This isn't about different visions of good, it's about good and evil. The thugs Obama is putting behind this effort are consciously protecting fraudulent voting; they want illegal aliens and dead voters to cast ballots. Today's democrats disgust me.

This is a project that all voting entities should undertake. But it is one that is hard to do without having conflict of some sort.

With the advent of computers and various systems it should be fairly easy to identify some registrants that should be removed. Things like deaths, marriages, felony convictions, drivers license address changes, etc. should be flagged and sent to the voter registrar for cross checking. That would help remove names that shouldn't be on the list, imo.

There may be liberal areas in Tampa but there are also a LOT of conservatives. In a state which is very important to the election.

The Tampa Tribune is one of the better birdcage liners. You’re thinking of the St. Petersburg-based Tampa Bay Times.

Exactly, the downtown metro (as is any) is liberal but there are very conservative suburbs. I’d say Tampa more than most metro areas leans right. And MacDill AFB doesn’t hurt, either.

The issue is not that they are attempting to identify unqualified voters, it is how they are doing so. They are using computer databases that are in some cases several years old and of questionable accuracy. There are reports all over the place of fully-eligible US citizens being identified for removal from the rolls due to this inaccurate process.

I'm not surprised at this. But I am surprised that the RATs haven't started voter registration drives with ex-Baathists in Iraq and the Taliban in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The Tampa Tribune is minimizing voter fraud as Liberal Media is required to do. You have to go to the bottom of this story to find that, in fact, illegal aliens have registered to vote in Florida.

“Pasco Elections Supervisor Brian Corley said he received 13 names. Two have proved they are citizens, nine haven’t responded and two acknowledged they are not citizens, so Corley referred their names to the state attorney for possible prosecution”.
