Bill Clinton: Praising Romney's business record doesn't connote endorsement

By Rodney Hawkins

(CBS News) PATERSON, N.J. - Former President Bill Clinton, seeking to contain the political damage from his earlier praise of Mitt Romney's "sterling" business background, said on Friday that his remarks shouldn't be construed as an endorsement.

Appearing on CNN on Thursday, Clinton said of Romney: "A man who's been governor and had a sterling business career crosses the qualification threshold." Conservatives such as Rush Limbaugh crowed that the former president had "basically endorsed" the presumptive GOP nominee.

But at a rally in Paterson to support Rep. Bill Pascrell, Clinton said his remarks got "twisted around."

"I said, you know, Governor Romney had a good career in business and he was a governor, so he crosses the qualification threshold for him being president," Clinton said. "But he shouldn't be elected, because he is wrong on the economy and all these other issues.

Billy Boy needs to stop running around with porn stars, he looks terrible. His body obviously can’t take it.

He should be praising Obama’s sterling business performance. Oh, that’s right.

It DOES connote an endorsement.

It doesn't denote one.

Oh, but it does...to sentient beings anyway.

It depends on the meaning of the word “be”. LOL. I bet Bubba is loving all this attention. I also bet Mooch-elle has thrown every ash tray in the WH (if she lets Bambi have any). They’ll have to bolt down the lamps.

Bambi is probably like the high school Principal in Ferris Buehler slamming his phone down hard over and over, madder than a wet hen.

I think all of this is quite interesting. Sarah Palin was also a Governor and certainly had exhibited a great deal of business savvy, particularly when managing a government entity. Yet I don’t recall reading in the press about those two positive attributes when talking about her. And nary a peep about Romney’s lack of foreign experience.

I am sure Klein’s revelations in his book about Clinton wanting Hillary to run already has Obama frothing
This only made it worse

He singled out “Governor” and “Businessman” as two important attributes Romney has to be President.

Notice O has neither one of these.

He could have said “Romney is no Community Organizer, one term absentee, non-voting Senator”, so don't vote for him, because he knows those attributes have given us a terrible President. He dissed O and now pretends it was taken out of context.

Sarah Palin’s business experience doesn’t amount to a shadow of Romney’s. Why bring it up?

Sure, he’s not endorsing Romney, he’s just defanging one of Obama’s best lines of attack against him. Bubba’s always triangulating, the sly so-and-so.
