...

The tradition is to announce the No. 2 around the time of the convention to inspire grassroots activists and seek maximum publicity for the final two-month push to the November 6 election.

But in this case, the Romney team has discussed whether to announce the pick a few weeks earlier to generate buzz for his campaign during August and help raise campaign funds.

Here are Republican Senator Rob Portman’s positions on some very important issues:

Please go to this site: http://www.ontheissues.org/oh/rob_portman.htm

Please read Portman’s positions on Immigration — he is for WIDE OPEN borders.
Here more info on his immigration views: http://www.numbersusa.com/content/my/congress/623/reportcard/CAREER/

Portman voted in favor of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 — read about the Act here: http://www.heritage.org/research/education/bg1775.cfm

These statements are taken from the Health Care section of http://www.ontheissues.org/oh/rob_portman.htm: Voted YES on limited prescription drug benefit for Medicare recipients. (Nov 2003) He voted NO on allowing reimportation of prescription drugs. (Jul 2003)

Portman is a free trader like Bush.
This statement is taken from the Energy and Oil section of http://www.ontheissues.org/oh/rob_portman.htm: He voted YES on starting implementation of Kyoto Protocol. (Jun 2000)

These statements are from the Foreign Policy section of http://www.ontheissues.org/oh/rob_portman.htm: Voted NO on keeping Cuba travel ban until political prisoners released. (Jul 2001) He voted YES on Permanent Normal Trade Relations with China. (May 2000)
Please read the Free Trade section.

IMHO, Portman is a high priest of the economic theocracy that places the needs of multinational corporations over the needs of AMERICANS. If the Chinese could vote, he would win the presidency by a landslide.

That’s fine. I am not advocating for him...I was simply suggesting that he was not an unknown.

I do agree that Romney will likely choose a VP early. I believe that his list will NOT include Palin, Newt, or Perry. I think that he will consider Portman, Ryan, Rubio, Trump, and I have a suspicion that there will be some corporate associates on his list, which I heartily agree with as a VP choice. I seriously doubt that he will choose any military General. I hope that he picks a Conservative, but think that that is doubtful. He might go with a religious leader?

I just looked up Rob Portman. Judging from his Electoral history, he’d be a wise choice. He’s wildly popular in Ohio. He got over 70% of the vote for years.

Thanks for posting the enlightening info on Portman! I hadn’t heard of the guy until a month or so ago and knew nothing about his track record. He’s a LOSER!

The presumptuous cheating, backstabbing RINO,
who threw ELECTION 2008 to Obama, now wants
to be the nominee (he is NOT but has less than 700 votes),
and to do so the “nominee” will “choose” a “VP”.

No to RINO ROmneyCARE.
No to RINO RomneyLIEs.
NO TO RINOS.

“Sarah, Sarah, Sarah”

I cannot imagine Sarah being anyone’s number two again. Also, were she to be, it would not be a loser like Romney. There is too much value in the “Palin” brand to waste it on a lost cause. She already did that dance with McCain.
