PA Arabs Attack, Israelis' Weapons Confiscated

Security forces in the Samaria (Shomron) town of Yitzhar were recently involved in violent clashes with Palestinian Authority Arabs, a senior IDF commander said.

In at least one case, the security team managed to prevent an attack. Despite that, the team has been punished for its allegedly heavy-handed response by having its responsibilities scaled back and its weapons confiscated.

The commander described two of the incidents that led to the punishment. As background, he noted that there has been a rash of arson attacks in the area lately – most of them carried out by Palestinian Authority Arabs, but some carried out by Israelis. He warned that the proposed demolition of the Ulpana neighborhood in Beit El is expected to increase violence.

Two weeks ago, he said, some young residents of Yitzhar clashed with nearby PA Arabs following a PA attack in the area. “When the army reached the area one of the security force members fired toward a Palestinian and wounded him in his face, saying the Palestinian had threatened him,” he reported.

The incident is under police investigation, and it has not yet been determined whether or not the man acted appropriately.

More recently, the security team responded to a clash between local Jews and PA Arabs from a nearby town. The Israeli youth pointed out a PA Arab man hidden behind a rock, shouting, “He’s armed, he’s armed.” Security team members responded by opening fire, hitting the PA man in the stomach.

J. R. "Bob" Dobbs receding into infinity...

<img src="http://mumble.com/image.jpg"> substitute the actual source of the image for http://mumble.com/image.jpg This image must be out on a server on the web someplace, not on your machine. This is why people have flicker and picassa accounts. You can easily find out the URL of an existing picture on the web by right-mousing over it and selecting Open Image In New Tab. This will open a tab on your browser containing only that image. The URL of that tab is the one to use as your src="" value.

You can easily vary the size of a given image by specifying it. The native size of the J. R. "Bob" Dobbs picture above is 324x216. It is best to keep your scaling to powers of 2 (as shown) to minimize scaling artifacts. Remember that scaling up will not introduce new detail into the existing picture.

In terms of specifying the scaling, the above is mostly overkill. It's nice to specify the height in both dimensions as this gives the browser some notion of how big you want the picture to be rather than having to wait for it to download to know what the image size is. This allows the browser to do a partial rendering of the page while waiting for the missing image. If you just want to scale an existing image, providing only a single dimension will get the browser to calculate the missing dimension for you, but it can't do that till the image comes in.

Stationary images usually end with .jpg or some variation. Moving images on this forum are only possible using images which end in .gif The .gif format allows for short sequences of stationary images to be presented like a very tiny movie. Currently the forum does not appear to allow embedded video.

You can position an image relative to its surrounding elements using the attribute align="middle". Recognized attribute values are top, bottom, middle, left and right.

Your URL http://www.flickr.com/photos/61163075@N08/7326522910/lightbox/ is malformed and incomplete. It should end in either .jpg or .png or .gif

I just found the one photo. Use Inspect Element over the photo in flickr and then look for the link that ends in .jpg, their may be multiples for images of different sizes.

Thank You! This was 28 May and I have a pic from an hour earlier, from the other side, where you can see the puffs of smoke in the valley, shortly after the fire began.
