As we approach Election Day, it's becoming more and more important for the Obama-loving media to give credit to the President for the economies of swing states governed by Republicans that are doing better economically than the rest of the country.
Candy Crowley did her part on CNN's State of the Union Sunday by asking Governor Bob McDonnell (R-Va.), "Dont you credit President Obama at all for the good fortune that Virginia has?"
CNN's Crowley Asks Gov. McDonnell 'Dont You Credit Obama' for 'Good Fortune Virginia Has?'
CANDY CROWLEY, HOST: Let me talk to you a little about the swing state of Virginia, and I want to show our viewers your unemployment rate which has basically stayed two to three points below the national unemployment rate. Its a success story really. Okay? You like this. I understand that. But, but, even as you embrace it as a Republican governor, does it not make it difficult for Mitt Romney, who has the same problem in other swing states, to come in and say, The economy is terrible and, you know, you need to elect a new president? Because Virginia is doing very well under President Obama.
Actually, I think it makes it easy for Romney to go to a state like Virginia and say, "See how much better your doing under Republican leadership. Imagine how much better you'd be doing if the federal government employed the same economic policies."
McDonnell agreed:
GOVERNOR BOB MCDONNELL (R-VIRGINIA): Yeah, I dont think it undermines his argument at all. Two reasons. One is as well as weve been fortunate to do with the lowest unemployment in the southeast, I tell people, Think how much better wed do if we had President Romney. And number two, I think that theres something going on with Republican-governed states. Seven out of the ten states, Candy, nationwide that have the lowest unemployment rates, Republican-governed states. Eleven out of the fifteen with the best
Crowley wasn't having any of this and instead interrupted her guest:
CROWLEY: Dont you credit President Obama at all for the good fortune that Virginia has? Hes done nothing at all that helped you all?MCDONNELL: Well I ask you, What would you point to that would lead you to say that that unemployment? The only thing I can say is he had a seven, he had nearly trillion dollars in stimulus, and that was one-time spending. Did it help us in the short-run
CROWLEY: Did it help?
MCDONNELL: with healthcare and education spending? Did it balance the budget? Sure. Does it help us in the long-term to really cut, cut the unemployment rate? Id say No. But weve done a lot of things. Republicans and Democrats in Virginia doing some things that I requested on economic development and targeted tax cuts and other things that I think have made a difference. So, Id say Republican governors are doing some things that are making a difference, and thats why Im trying to get more of them this year.
Crowley continued to press the point:
CROWLEY: So just a tiny bit of credit to the President?MCDONNELL: Well sure. I think theres national policies that have had some impact, but I can tell you this: if we didnt have all these attacks on Virginias energy industry, wed be in a lot better shape. This president on coal, natural gas, nuclear, not letting us drill off-shore, the Environmental Protection Agencys over-burdensome regulations on coal and natural gas, have made it much more difficult for us. Wed be lower on the unemployment rate if we didnt have these policies.
Crowley then changed the subject.
Prepare yourself for more such nonsense like this.
The reality is that many Republican-led states are indeed doing far better than the rest of the nation, and Obama's fans in the media need to somehow convince the American people that his policies are working better there than in Democrat-run states because of him and not the governors at the helm.
Yes, it's quite a feat, but they're going to do their darnedest to pull off this three card monty.
She was Working for the White House.
I met her....talked face to face and sat next to her at a Bob Dole rally back in the day
2 things...she smokes like a diesel and 2....If’n I had to describe her, one word comes to mind
blob
Any reasons for the GOP to appear on CNN with such awful ratings and their cheering for Pres Obama? Unless they are ready to rip Obama another one , why bother? Is anyone really watching on Sunday? more people will hear the sound bites elsewhere on Monday.
Isn’t obungle the one who wants to crush the coal industry? WVA comes to mind....
Like it or not, the reason Virginia is doing well with employment is because of the vast army of over-paid gubmint bureacrats who live in Northern Virginia. Huge numbers of contractors have also located there, escaping the high taxes of Maryland, and sucking up vast amounts of borrowed cash thrown out by big daddy fedgov. Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. His name is Uncle Sam.
It’s easy to talk about the success of Maryland and Virginia when the federal government is steering boatloads of money there. Meanwhile, the folks out in “flyover country” watch their wealth and their children’s future being sucked up by the insatiable appetite of the federal beast.
The folks on the receiving end of this untenable process (like the people of Northern Virginia and Montgomery County Maryland) best prepare themselves, because one day all of this “wealth” is gonna blow away like a fart in the wind.
Anyone with at least ten firing neurons in their brains would see this attempt for the 0bama cheer-leading that it is. If Leftist media hacks are going to try to get Republican governors to bow down and praise 0bama for the great things in their states, then the question immediately becomes, “Then why can’t DemocRAT governors, those whose ideology of ‘tax-and-spend’ is more in line with 0bama’s, achieve the same results because of 0bama’s policies?”
The answer should become obvious, at least to those with at least ten firing neurons in their brains.
Bob McDonnell should have just responded to Crowley with “why should I give 0bama any credit, when you and your last place so-called ‘news network’ are whoring yourselves out for that Kenyan pimp-daddy 24 hours a day?”
Crowley and Chrissy Matthews could have been twins. They look and think so much alike.
They are the spitting image of each other ...in drag.
Shouldn’t “credit 0bama”, just .gov in general. If you remove the elements of the federal government and all involved with it, Virgina becomes West(by God) Virginia.
Someone needs another cheeseburger. And a 16 oz. soda.
Your post is 100% true.
I spent a week in NoVa / DC on vacation in April.
It’s a completely different economy from the heartland.
We have to figure out how to starve this beast.
Does she credit Hostess for her figure?
Candy looks like a “run stopper”
and CNN wonders why their ratings are n the crapper!
Someone in ‘marketing’ has convinced the GOP that ‘being aggressive’ is bad. Everyone except Gingrich listened.
You wouldn't think so but what else does this other faction of the corrupt "Two-Party Cartel" to do. Don't both have it in for the Tea Party? The destruction of their fiefdom is all what 500 members of CONgress care about.
True... or, perhaps: “Just curious; Is Candy your given name — or, just a nickname you earned by eating like a pig?”
