Robin Hoods Don't Smash Shop Windows
The Wall Street Journal ^ | June 1, 2012 | JOHN AGRESTO

The myth persists that the left—while it might often be naive and unrealistic—still has its heart in the right place. Those who want to redistribute income are the gallant Robin Hoods of contemporary life. "Occupiers" and socialists clearly have real concern for the downtrodden and poor. Those who demand social justice are more sincere, more compassionate, more spiritual, and surely more Christian than the rest of us.

Fairness and decency are the heart of the left; materialism and selfishness the hallmarks of the bourgeoisie, Wall Street, the tea party crowd, and, well, ordinary Americans in general. So we are told.

Of course, every now and then this narrative unravels. An Occupy crowd goes on a rampage smashing the windows of small shopkeepers, stealing, destroying private and public property, throwing bricks at the police, and threatening the lives of ordinary citizens. In social-democratic Europe, gangs of idealistic youths take over universities, riot, and firebomb their way to achieve what they characterize as justice.

"Outliers," we are told. "Fringe elements," the media strains to label them. And, yes, so they are. While these men and women are clearly left in their outlook and desires, they're not your ordinary center-left liberals. Nancy Pelosi may praise their passion, but she doesn't have it in her heart to join them.

Yet two things seem as obvious as they are curious. Movements and associations of most ordinary Americans seem to lack the elements of destruction and hate we see on the fringes of the ideological left. And there is something about the left that seems to regularly produce a violent, even nihilistic fringe.

Shouldn't it be exactly opposite—shouldn't selfish conservatives be the ones to produce nasty mobs and shouldn't the left, with its vaunted idealism and love of neighbor,

Robin Hood took money from greedy and corrupt tax collectors and returned the money to the productive folk who had earned it. He wasn't redistributing: he was returning money to the rightful owner.

The Left tries to use him as a hero, but he is the exact opposite. Robin Hood was a proto-Tea Party member.

Wherever these vermin go, three things always follow.

Trash, graffiti, and crime.

Robin Hood stole money from the Government, more specifically Robin Hood commonly stole money from the tax collector, the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Our current tax collector at the IRS is Timmy Gee, Our “Sheriff of Nottingham.”

So when I read “ - - - Those who want to redistribute income are the gallant Robin Hoods of contemporary life. - - - “ I wonder what “the gallant Robins Hoods of contemporary life” have stolen from the IRS?

I’ve always understood Robin Hood as someone who stole from the greedy tax collectors/monarchy who took from the village. Monarchy were the government. Somehow the left have turnd it as simply stealing from the rich.

THANK you! Robin Hood’s nemesis was the Sheriff, not the “greedy” merchant selling his goods.

Never read the original Robin Hood stories, but the last three films (and therefore the primary source of cultural info) portrayed only one character who could be identified as a merchany: Friar Tuck, a card-carrying "Merry Man" who sold either alcoholic beverages or holy relics.

In the Disney cartoon, he was depicted as a badger, clearly a capitalist of the animal kingdom.

The sheriff wanted to maintain his lifestyle; but the king took all the tax money to fight in the middle east. So the sheriff abused his power by stealing from the middle class. He would have stolen from the poor; but they had nothing worth taking. Robin Hood returned to the middle class what was rightfully theirs.

Robin Hood is a fairy tale.
I took a boat tour in Switzerland, and was shocked and appalled to finally learn the truth myself, at the source!
Damn those Welsh passengers!

I know, it is hard to accept and adjust to the abject truth, just like a child learning that Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy are mere myths.

There does not now, and has never existed a “gallant thief”.

Actually there were several Robin Hoods and they do exist in English court records from the 12th Century.

It seems to have been a name applied to a thief who primarily stole and or poached from Norman nobles.

So they were going after the tax collectors unfairly stealing from the oppressed Saxons.

Again exactly the opposite of the communist the left so loves to portray.

To put all this into perspective, whether or not Robin Hood actually existed or did what his-story said he did, the point is that the anti-capitalists have ignored the story, twisted the “goodness” of his actions and used all of that as a weapon against those of us who are still hunter-gatherers of MONEY, the lifeblood of any society.

In Robin Hood’s day, the Merchant Class was essentially non-existant. The Feudal Lord, who lived in the Castle, controlled all wealth. His predator goon was the Sheriff of Nottingham.

History is showing us the immense latent power of the Feudal System that is forcing Europe to destroy the Merchant Class, assign all wealth to a Feudal Lord, currently the European Union, and establish a new castle, probably in Berlin.

In the USSA, we are way ahead of Europe. We already have a Feudal System of Plantation Style Entitlements, run by a Feudal Lord with headquarters at 1600 Plantation Avenue, in the District of Corruption. His predator goon is Timmy Gee, head of the all powerful IRS.

The crushing National Debt, Predatory taxation by the IRS, Regulation by Decree from the Feudal Lord of forced implementation of the Fairness Doctrine, and Feudal Government Trade Guilds, (often called Labor Unions), have been very successful in the destruction of jobs and companies in Amerika for decades.

Our Sheriff of Nottingham, Timmy Gee would arest any Robin Hood of today who was trying to steal money from the IRS. The path to Feudalism in Amerika is FINALLY wide open!

Yes indeed! Soon we will return to the Days of Merry Old England with no merchant class, our vast flyover countryside of the poor begging for more entitlement handouts from our National Feudal Capital, and lots and lots of borrowed foreign money to try to convince the foreign governments of the World that we have the greatest system of Government EVER on the face of the Earth!

BTW, we Amerikan voters are still “allowed” by “both” political parties to choose between Tweedle-Dumb, and Tweedle-Dumber this November. I can hardly wait!

Your history stinks, starting with the fact that Hollyweird/Disney was first to twist the Robin Hood legend.
