Can Barry pardon Holder for something he has not been convicted of before Barry gets the boot?

You can only pardon the guilty. If Holder isn't found guilty before Barry is out, Barry can't do squat.

Break the story, get indictments before the election, trial after/during the election season, conviction after Jan 20 would be the perfect timeline.

A President can grant a pardon before a trial. Take Nixon for example. But the person accepting the pardon is making a de facto admission of guilt. A small difference from your statement, but meaningful.
