Democrats appear to take Senate with narrow Lehman win (Wisconsin State Senate)

Democrats appeared to have assumed control of the state Senate with results posted early Wednesday showing former Sen. John Lehman (D-Racine) defeating incumbent Van Wanggaard in a tight race.

Republicans held on to three other state Senate seats in Tuesday's recall voting. Democratic challengers lost recalls bids against Sens. Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) and Terry Moulton (R-Chippewa Falls.).

Rep. Jerry Petrowski (R-Stettin) was elected to fill the vacancy left by Sen. Pam Galloway (R-Wausau), who resigned earlier this year after opponents gathered enough signatures to initiate a recall election.

All eyes Wednesday will be on the 21st District. Results posted early Wednesday showed Lehman with 36,255 votes to 35,476 for Wanggaard with 100% of precincts reporting. The margin of 779 could bring a recount.

In a statement, Senate Democratic Leader Mark Miller said:

"Tonight, Wisconsinites across the 21st Senate District elected a new State Senator. By electing a Democratic Senate, the people of Wisconsin have opened the door to responsible dialogue and if needed provide a bulwark against continued political extremism, and restored checks and balances to the Wisconsin Legislature. I look forward to working again with Senator-elect Lehman in the State Senate in the coming months."

Pfffft!

The Senate is out until the House calls it back into session. Simply enough, the House can keep out of session until November where the GOP is likely to gain back the one whole seat due to redistricting.

So if they do win, the Dems can enjoy a whole 5 months of nothing.

$20 mil dollars on an electoral tantrum and all they got was a lousy Democrat Senator.

The real travesty is that this loser was elected by fraud in the city, but now represents people in the redistricted area who were not even able to cast a vote in the matter.

Yes, this is correct per this article:
http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/event/article/id/233638/group/homepage/

“Republicans still control the governor’s office and the Assembly. That means if Democrats get the Senate, state government would plunge into gridlock. But the Legislature isn’t scheduled to convene again until January, and whoever wins the majority in the recalls will have to defend it before then in the November election.”

Walker won this county by more than 5000 votes. Why would someone vote for the republican Walker and then at the same time vote for a democrat in the state senate? Something about this is not right.

So, the 5% Dem fraud factor had ‘some’ payoff....

Yes, I’m willing to go on record asserting that the dem’s were able to post over 125,000 fraudulent votes in the WI election last night.

Busing in voter, mail in ballots, double & triple voting, voter impersonation, etc....

COULD bring a recount???

If a Republican was leading by 779 votes, the media and Obama's lawyers would be screaming "voter fraud" at the tops of their lungs!

It would be a win to be sure, but only a consolation win for the union bosses. In a way, it might be good for the conservative cause to serve as a reminder against overconfidence in November. It’s still going to take a big effort to defeat a Democrat incumbent president in Wisconsin.

I thought Republicans held all four seats

They "found" a few extra ballot boxes after the votes were counted.

If I were Scott Walker, I'd call a special session right away to work on some sort of jobs legislation - maybe even revisit the mining bill. The Democrats being who they are will run even greater opposition to him now that they think they have some power.

It would serve as a good reminder for November as to which party has the state and the nation's best interest in hand.

While I believe there was fraud I’m not sure about this race. Here’s why.

If the Dems are going to manufacture votes then why do it by having the phony ballots show a split vote. This seems to be the argument for claiming fraud.

Perhaps people did in fact split the vote and the fraudulent ballots were all straight Dem votes although I am one of those who cannot understand why anyone would vote for Walker and against the Rep Senator.

It’s meaningless
The senate does not meet until
After the Nov election and the new WI voter Id laws go into effect and new districts go into effect .
New districting favor the GOP
