HAVERHILL, Mass. (AP) -- A Massachusetts teenager has been found guilty of motor vehicle homicide and negligent operation for causing a fatal car crash while texting on his cellphone.
It was the first time someone had been tried in Massachusetts for the crimes while sending or receiving a text message.

Yes I looked up on google maps where the intersection was (River St. and Cliffe Ave.) and it was just beyond Jaffarian where I’d bought my Toyota in ‘08, and if you keep going west yes you do get out to I-495. Road indeed fairly wide.
My wife is a traveling nurse, and her office is constantly sending out texts for next work assignment, what Dr. to call, patient information, and other things throughout the day.
I was riding with her and her text chime goes off and without missing a beat, she signals, glides over to the shoulder, stops, and then looks at her phone. After answering the text, and proceeding, I asked her why she did that. Her answer was "It's safer that way."
I'm so proud...
Being from Illinois myself, I don’t find that story implausible in the least.
