No wonder unions hate Scott Walker, he cost them a fortune

Recalled Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker won the special election against Tom Barrett on Tuesday, his 7 point win an improvement over the 6 point, 2010 margin of victory. And as for the $21 million FOX News reported organized labor to have poured into the recall sweepstakes? Call it a crap shoot designed in the hope of recouping some portion of the stunning losses unions have suffered over the past 24 months.

Two Walker-sponsored laws have decimated both the power and bank accounts of government sector unions, the first making Wisconsin a right-to-work state and the next doing away with the dues check-off so prized by organized labor. The check-off privilege means “…government seizes union dues straight from workers’ paychecks. The union hierarchy spends that cash on politicking to elect favored candidates. And then the politicians do the union bosses’ bidding.” (1)

Adding insult to injury, along with the check-off generated, automatic payroll deduction, a “service fee” is charged equal to the amount of an employee’s union dues! All of this money which used to go directly into union coffers is now lost. (2)

And thanks to the right to opt out of union membership, AFSCME, the 2nd largest union in Wisconsin has seen its membership rolls dwindle from 62,818 in March of 2011 to 28,745 in February of 2012, nearly a 60% decline. (3)

Wisconsin’s public unions have paid...

Unions are money-laundering machines for the Rats; they take money (union dues or “fees” for political activities) from workers before they are legally are allowed to vote on their own ‘collective’ contracts.

You can’t have a say as a worker, unless you contribute to the Rat campaigns.

Corrupt, oppressive, unjust, service-cartel racket.

It was even worse in Wisconsin. The school districts had to buy health insurance from a company that was owned by the union.

One of Walker's key reforms was to allow the school districts to put the health insurance contracts out for bid. <

The result: The Milwaukee school district alone saved over $30 million in health insurance costs.

The union tactics and the left wing acolytes radical agenda was the cause of the general public having their eyes opened to the cost and entitlement mentality of their pubic sector unions...

If they had just played their incremental game of waiting the politics out they would probably be in a much stronger position in a few years rather than being decimated and their power broken over the taxpayer wallet...

As normal liberals overreach and got greedy and are their worst enemies....could not have happened to a bunch of more deserving vermin...

As long as the money was spent in the USA, that creates jobs and sustains the economy.

That's the Broken Window Fallacy

The economy would have been far better off, had the unions never emerged and became entrenched. Money spent battling them is wastage. It's like money spent repairing windows broken by hooligans.

In the short run Union bosses win by being bullies. In the long run, workers run from them. That's what they should have learned from Wisconsin... that the 'bully' thing doesn't work in secret free elections.

Although the Walker ads were decent, I wish they’d made one explaining to Wisconsinites exactly how bad they’d been screwed by the Dems and the teacher’s union over the years.
