(CNN) -- A unified lawsuit on behalf of more than 2,000 National Football League players has been filed against the league in federal court, alleging that the NFL failed to acknowledge and address neurological risks associated with the sport and then deliberately failed to tell players about the risks they faced, according to attorneys representing former players.
The complaint, filed in federal court in Philadelphia, unites the more than 80 pending lawsuits filed against the NFL.
"I firmly believe the NFL could have and should have done more to protect Ray. That's why I am seeking to hold the NFL accountable," said Mary Ann Easterling, widow of former Atlanta Falcons safety Ray Easterling, who committed suicide in April after years with dementia. "Having lived through Ray's struggle, I desperately hope and pray others can be spared the pain and suffering we have endured -- and still endure every day."

What will really be interesting is the impact this will have on the game at the high school level, and the liability insurance rate increases that may come about from this...will they be able to afford to pay them. That’s what could ultimately wind up killing the game as we know it.
So maybe they should have a tax on tickets to Football games: “Head Injury Tax” and the money could be used to EDUCATE the Children about the dangers of Big Football
I can believe the recklessness of the NFL here. Imagine, hiding it for all these years that football is a dangerous sport. There oughtda be a law.
Most of them were idiots who got through college on Sports scolarships. They took the money that was offered them and now they cry.They knew the risks.
Their huge salaries have driven the price of tickets past what most of us can afford.The hell with them close the stadiums up and lets call it a day.

This is beyond six kinds of stupid. They knew what they were doing. Surely these men played football LONG before they joined the ranks of the NFL.

80 of all NFL players, three years after leaving the NFL are unemployed, divorced and bankrupt.
This despite each player meets with the CFO and the team puts together a financial plan for them that 80% disregard.
They tried after last years report to blame it on race - white players already had a home and their mom’s had a home and black players need to buy that stuff.
I played in the 1970’s and we all knew the risks then and choose the money was worth the risk.

Mebbe they can put a Surgeon General’s warning on the side of the helmets? Also they could run some commercials featuring a few really messed up football players, like they do for cigarettes?

The problem is proper tackling techniques have been replaced by players trying to make SportsCenter with the big hit.
So......they burned through the big money they made while playing and now it’s time to get some more money.....of course the attorneys will get a big chunk of the cash.

Shouldn’t their paychecks go down as the game is rendered safer and less exciting. It may happen anyway.
These players are no shrinking violets. They knew from Pop Warner what they were doing.
