Obama is certainly stupid enough that he may not have understood a joke about his wife that had “go down” in the punchline .
It’s truly incredible just how stupid he is.
OTOH it’s also incredible how poorly he speaks before people. However can one tell whether he is telling a joke incredibly poorly or just being incredibly stupid?

I heard the audio on Rush’s show and now I’ve seen the clip and I honestly can’t tell if he meant and understood the joke or not. I think the audience was prepared for a joke and even got chuckles before the punchline.
Did Barry actually write/test/knew in advance about the joke or was it just something that came across the teleprompter and he didn’t realize what he was saying?
Remember the “Special Olympics” joke that bombed? I think either he has crappy speechwriters, didn’t see the joke coming until it got laughs or just didn’t get the joke until it was too late. He did look tired to me. I’m not sure this guy really wants to win re-election.
To this point no one has addressed the context. The woman does some crappy push ups. When I saw them I told my wife—”look, so isn’t going all the way down.”. To which my wife replied, “ that’s what she said.”

I agree and I think people are reading way too much into this. I’m so naive that I never even would of known that it was a double entendre unless someone told me. I think some people minds are wired to think of sex whenever they hear or see anything. Like people who giggle at a company called, “Dick’s Plumbing” or something. I mean really, grow up.

That’s the way I took it. Either way, it was a stupid and classless thing to say. But considering the source, not unexpected.
One time at the place where I work a man was telling a group about a sex act with a woman that went wrong. He went into incredible detail and really mocked her for losing her balance. Turned out that not only was the woman his wife, she worked in the same building so these people could see her every day and picture what happened.
Some people are incredibly tactless. Youu could give Obama the benefit of the doubt for saying something and not realizing the double entendre until it was too late but this guy was intentionally humiliating his wife in order to get a laugh from his buddies.

Not only would my husband not say something so dispectful with a sexual overtone about me, he certainly wouldn’t mock or make fun of me exercising. Now, when we are together, we get silly and joke around but never, EVER would he insult me or make fun of me in front of anyone. And he is a handsome manly man too, not some sissy faggot.
Also, women usually don’t have good upper body strength- hence the ‘women’s pushup’, done on bended knees instead of on tippy toes so her not being able to go all the way to the floor isn’t a big deal to me. But, yes, I think that was an intentional sexual joke.
That is my biggest complaint about Rush. He, far too often, strays into-what I consider-juvenile indulgences of his prurient side. I know some other middle-aged males like him, they are trapped in the junior high-school boys locker-room, as I think Rush seems to be.
Also can't wait for the first time MO meets with our resident after being publicly made the butt-end of a joke, intended or not.

Exactly. You have to watch the video to get a real feel for what happened. In the end, it doesn’t matter whether he was set up (it sure looks like he was from the video) or that he understood how the joke would be taken and implied that his wife was bi-sexual, the damage is huge.
He’s either just implied his wife is a Lesbian, or somebody who writes his speeches snuck one by him.
