EDITORIAL: Slick Willy is sinking Barack
The Washington Times ^ | 8 June 2012 | Washington Times OP Ed

Posted on 06/08/2012 5:24:40 AM PDT by COBOL2Java

If Bill Clinton wants Barack Obama to win re-election, he is doing a good job of hiding it. Just when the Obama campaign was trying to convince the country that Mitt Romney’s tenure at Bain Capital disqualifies him from the presidency, former President Clinton chimed in last week saying Mr. Romney did “good work” at Bain. He added, “a man who’s been governor and had a sterling business career crosses the qualification threshold.” All he left out was, “especially compared to a community organizer.”

[snip]

...why would Mr. Clinton seek to sabotage Mr. Obama? Because he needs to win. Mr. Clinton always wanted to go down in history as one of the great presidents. He rarely makes the list of the top 10, and he has been thoroughly eclipsed by Mr. Obama, whose ethnicity made his election historic from Day One. The current president achieved the health care reform Mr. Clinton could not and ordered the killing of Osama bin Laden when Mr. Clinton would not. Most galling of all is Mr. Obama being awarded a Nobel Peace Prize, the recognition Mr. Clinton most sought in his presidency but which eluded him. He then had to witness his former vice president Al Gore be given the prize for his crazy ranting about global warming.

Helping make Mr. Obama a one-termer will harm Barack’s standing in history, perhaps dropping him below Mr. Clinton on the list of presidential greats. That’s right where Willy wants him.

The Clintons have long memories and “revenge is a dish bet served cold.” Clinton's “gaffes” are payback for Barry's dirty tricks in the 2008 Donkey primaries. Even putting Hillary! in the Secretary of State's job hasn't cooled the hate between the Clintons and Obamas.

In so far as the November election goes, the more the thug from Chicago has to watch his back, the more his forces are divided. This is a good thing and benefits the United States as a whole.

Get him, Bill. Pass the popcorn, please.

I’m tired of creepy democrats... all of ‘em - Obama, Clinton, Biden, Holder... creepy, creepy, creepy.

Clinton comes out with these things against obama and for Romney —— Then says he's sorry!

Clinton's a whore-monger - opps, sorry - I didn't mean that... and his wife's a slut - opps, sorry - didn't mean that either... and Obama should treat his wife with more respect - I DID mean that one... How dare he make the first lady the butt of a filthy joke. Shames her - shames the country...

This seems like a dicey proposition. Wouldn't Hilary be somewhat guilty by association? Also, aside from "taking out bin Laden," what foreign policy success can she point to as SoS?

She will say that she was shackled by President Obama's foreign policy agenda and that if she was POTUS, she would do it differently.

Then, in perfect Clinton fashion, she would say that this is about turning our economy around and creating jobs for Americans, not about foreign policy.

I never thought I would like anything that Clinton did until now.

I never thought I would wish for the days when he was President as opposed to Obama. But I am. God help me, I would take Clinton back if it meant Obama was gone for good.

The game Clinton is playing is quite amusing, maybe not so much to Obama.

He says stuff and then the next day, he walks it back, but only a little.

Then he repeats this. He obviously harbors a lot of animosity for Obama. Maybe because of the Hillary thing. Bubba really wants to be First Dude for some reason.

That would give him a unique place in history, at least in his mind. First two term president to go on to become First Guy.

Anyway, we may never know the full story but it makes for good television.

Even Bill Clinton is looking like an honest man next to Obama.

Did you EVER think that Clinton looking honest would ever be possible? I certainly didn't think so! But here it is.

Clinton wanting to be ranked higher by history is an interesting angle.

I disagree with the idea that Hillary would have a better chance in 2016 if Obama is re-elected. There would be extreme Democrat-fatigue by then and the economy would almost certainly be in far worse shape than it is now. If Romney is elected, even if he manages to improve the economy, he'll have the media attacking him all the time just like with Reagan and GWB, and there could be events we don't expect that provide ammunition for a challenger to the incumbent President. Of course waiting to 2020 is out of the question--she'd be in her mid-70s and Bill may be dead from something by then (he doesn't look all that healthy now).

The thought of Hillary replacing Obama on the ballot terrifies me.

The odds of it happening are, well, it won’t happen but she might actually win.

Clinton benefits from the fact that most of his crimes too place so long ago that we forget them, or only vaguely remember the details.

The "Fast and Furious" program has killed one US border agent (of no concern to Holder or Obama because he was white) and maybe 300 or more Mexicans. During Clinton's time as governor of Arkansas, he let a crony collect blood from Cummings prison in his state, which wound up being sold in Canada. There were reports that 300 Canadians may have contracted AIDS from the tainted blood. I remember when that was being investigated...but somehow the story faded away. As usual Clinton skated.

Speaking of defectors, did anyone see on TV that Cory Booker (dem mayor of Detroit who got very passionate in defending Bain last week and then walked it back) is now ... in the words of the Obama people ... dead to the Obama campaign.

Apparently, he didn’t walk it back far enough.

dontcha know they would love to declare Bubba dead to the campaign, but there’s not a darn thing they can do to Bubba now.

I know what you mean but it’s not as easy to skate on a lie about an economy when Americans are living it, know what’s in their wallet, know what they’re paying for gasoline and know they have no job. To say the economy’s getting better is a lie that’s more difficult to cover up.

The title made me think of the Johnny Horton Song; "They had to sink the Bismark, the terror of the sea"

Sink the Bismark

Thanks DFU! Long time no see, btw.

Yes, I didn’t have time to read the whole thing, but I think that Clinton quote was in the excerpt.
