Its goals aren’t even that broad. It is nothing more than obstructionism ... A cult of latter-day Luddites.
After I posted my reply I realized that it was incomplete.
The enviro-commies want both things:
(1) As you say, to shut down the economy just to be shutting it down, and
(2) To take money from the evil winners (i.e. white people) and give it to the noble losers (i.e. everybody else).
