Facing a slew of economic bad news, President Obama said Friday the private sector is doing just fine but blamed Republicans for not helping out-of-work teachers and other public-sector employees – an analysis pounced on by GOP leaders.

“The private sector is doing fine,” the president said during a White House press conference. “Where we're seeing weaknesses in our economy have to do with state and local government. … If Republicans want to be helpful, if they really want to move forward and put people back to work, what they should be thinking about is how do we help state and local governments.”

GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney responded within minutes from a campaign stop in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

“what they should be thinking about is how do we help state and local governments.”

I’ve thought about it and there’s only one answer: “Live within your means, morons.”

Obama is really going to run on this platform- "You're doing fine, but government workers are getting screwed"???

There is no way Obama and his minions are that dumb... did he just put two separate talking points too close together or does he really believe this? If he really believes this, does he believe this is a winning issue?

He doesn’t even mean “help state and local governments”.

What he means is “keep the public sector union benefits flowing from state and local governments”.

Ha!!
I remember when Ford said there was no Communist threat in E. Europe.

In the mean time...there was a standing army of about a half a million Russians sitting on the Niemen, with tanks and bridging equipment (hardly defensive stuff)...he never heard the end of THAT!!!

Think the MSM will give “O” the same treatment?

This must be a transcription error. I’m sure he meant to say, “the private sector will be fined”.

“The private sector is doing fine,” the president said during a White House press conference. “Where we're seeing weaknesses in our economy have to do with state and local government. …

Notice the dumbass doesn't mention Federal employees.

I want JUST ONE talking head or Republican to ask Obama about the growth of the Federal government headcount over the past four years.

If the private sector is doing OK, then, the public sector will follow. In the mean time some of the dead wood in the public sector will be pruned and grow healthy.

What DumBO is really saying, the unions don’t have the government money to launder to the Bolshecratic Party.

I hope everyone sees this. It is the final turning point. Its Obama’s "malaise" moment. There will be no recovering from this.

I’m sure Obama lost a lot of votes here in NJ will his drivel about how we needed to get back those costly cops, teachers, and firemen back on the job; those jobs in those “industries” that were lost in NJ in the last 2 years will not be back for a very long time.

Obama rescued them with one year’s funding; the next year they were laid off anyway.

On a related note, now in NJ when developers want to put something together, and have to build a school as part of it, voters know they’ll be on the hook for those salaries and benefits for infinity and oppose the projects. One teacher’s salary and benefits (including retirement) are probably much closer to the cost of a school building than you’d realize.
