Easy, government at all levels rolled out the red carpet for them, and then took money from you to subsidize their health care, schooling, food stamps, welfare, so all the fatcorps and big biz can get their endless line illegal low wage labor. As big biz winks and nods, bankrolling the politicians campaigns to ensure the borders remain open and lawless.
My interpretation of this is , no more anchor babies, NOT more!

Hopefully, Washington won’t have any choice but to cut back on all the welfare gravy then the states will have to make some hard choices.
I wonder if this is just more tough talk like Rick Perry announcing his support for Texas independence.
Some of their positions are very good but the following capitulation:
“Mass deportation of these individuals would neither be equitable nor practical . . . We seek common ground to develop and advance a conservative, market- and law-based approach to our nation’s immigration issues”
is pathetic.
Translation: Yes, they broke the law, sponge off taxpayers, take work from Americans, commit crimes in disproportionate numbers, bankrupt hospitals, and made demands for more services at their La Raza rallies, but it’s impractical that we try to do anything meaningful about it. Let’s reward their criminal behavior by letting them stay.

I was involved in the SubCommittee that wrote on Welfare Reform.
The stronger language failed by one vote in the whole Committee and the substitution of 2010 language failed by 2, if I remember correctly. The fact that the above language was included in the Platform (and read aloud in Committee and in the General Session) was probably the deciding factor.

Texas is not weak or soft on illegal immigration. We have 1200 miles of the 2000 mile border with Mexico. We’ve been spending between $100 to $200 Million a year of Texas tax payer money on what should be Federally funded by all the States: border security and illegal alien criminals. The Feds built 11 detention centers in Texas for ICE, bring them to Texas and dump them here, sometimes even releasing them here when their Courts get too backed up. ICE also will release illegals at border towns which results in a revolving door of release and catch and release and catch.
Then, we are the State that sued to stop education of illegal aliens’ children - Tyler, Texas started the suit back in 1982, but Texas was strong in joining it.
Finally, our population has been used to crossing the border fairly freely to visit, shop and do business until the Feds let the border drug trade get to the point that people who have relatives close to the border don’t even cross anymore.
The problem is lack of Federal control of the border. It is not that Texans are “weak” or cowtow to businesses that hire.

Conservatives nation-wide won’t be so complacent when this wording, “...We seek common ground to develop and advance a conservative, market- and law-based approach to our nation’s immigration issues...” weasles its way onto the national platform because of Republicans in Texas. Especially as the laws we have are not enforced, so why have a revision!?
Millions of people are unemployed in this nation, and Texas businesses want the modern version of slave labor from south of the border! That doesn’t make sense.
Yes, the Feds have dumped on Texas. So have they dumped on everyone else in the country. So what? Those 1200 miles of border with Mexico may just become a flaspoint in a war if the U.S. economy fails and the bulk of our military in caught overseas. Mexico has been pushing for reconquest for quite some time and many of the narco trafficates are allied with Jihadists, if you didn’t know. None of us can depend on the Federal government. I guess Texas is going to be stuck with tending the border.
Don’t tell me we can’t relocate all illegal aliens - Eisenhower did it, so can we. The single most important thing that will achieve is relieving the huge, curshing welfare, social services and education burden so many states have due to illegal aliens.
And Mexico insists that wherever Mexicans go, Mexico exists. That means that when a child is born in the U.S. to Mexican citizens here illegally, that baby is a Mexican citizen! No anchor babies.
Send ‘em home.
Driver Licenses - We propose that every Texas driver license shall indicate whether the driver is a U.S. citizen. No such license shall be issued to anyone not legally in the country.
Law Enforcement - We support limitation of criminal jurisdiction of federal law-enforcement agencies into state and local jurisdictions and encourage them to enforce the laws under federal jurisdiction. The states have the right to protect their citizens if the federal government fails to enforce their applicable laws.
Census - We oppose the Census Bureau’s obtaining data beyond the number of people residing in a dwelling, and we oppose statistical sampling adjustments. We support the actual counting of people and oppose any type of estimation or manipulation of Census data. Only U.S. citizens should be counted for the purpose of adjusting legislative districts.

Voter Registration - We support restoring integrity to the voter registration rolls and reducing voter fraud. We support repeal of all Motor Voter laws; re-registering voters every four years; requiring photo ID of all registrants; proof of residency and citizenship, along with voter registration application; retention of the 30-day registration deadline; and requiring that a list of certified deaths be provided to the election administrator in order that the names of deceased voters be removed from the list of registered voters.
Voting Rights - We support equal suffrage for all U.S. Citizens of voting age who are not felons. We oppose any identification of citizens by race, origin, or creed and oppose use of any such identification for purposes of creating voting districts.

We support increased scrutiny and security in balloting by mail; prohibition of internet voting and any electronic voting lacking a verifiable paper trail; prohibition of mobile voting; prosecution for election fraud with jail sentences; repeal of the unconstitutional “Help America Vote Act”; and assurance that each polling place has a distinctly marked and if possible separate location for Republican and Democratic primary voting.

ASSISTING FAMILIES TO SELF SUFFICIENCY Welfare Reform Welfare should offer a hand up to transition families and individuals through hard times and welfare reform should encourage partnerships with faith based institutions, community and business organizations to assist individuals in need. The current system encourages dependency on government and robs individuals and generations of healthy motivation and self-respect. It should be limited in scope. We encourage welfare reform in the following areas:
1. Denying benefits to individuals who cannot prove citizenship;
2. Welfare reforms should require recipients to work, learn, and train;
3. Reforms should require recipients to remain substance abuse free in exchange for temporary benefits not exceeding two years.
4. Recipients should be required to submit to random drug testing in order to receive benefits;
5. Welfare cards should be confined to food and vital essentials, not cigarettes, lottery purchases, or alcohol or drugs of any kind;
6. Prisoners should be removed from welfare rolls; and
7. A nominal co-pay should be required to encourage judicious utilization of health care services.
Educating Our Children – Page 11.
Bilingual Education – We encourage non-English speaking students to transition to English within three years.
College Tuition – We recommend three levels of college tuition: In-state requiring proof of Texas legal citizenship, out-of-state requiring proof of US citizenship, and nonresident legal alien. Non-US citizens should not be eligible for state or federal grants, or loans.
Educational Entitlement [page 12] – We encourage legislation that prohibits enrollment in free public schools of non-citizens unlawfully present in the United States.
Foreign Culture Charter Schools in Texas [page 13] – We oppose public funding of charter schools which receive money from foreign entities. We demand that these Charter Schools have accountability and transparency to local parents, taxpayers, the State of Texas, as do current public schools, including U.S. citizenship of principals.
Promoting Individual Freedom and Safety – Page 14.
State Militia – We support the establishment and maintenance of a volunteer Constitutional State Militia with assistance from County Sheriffs.
Electronic Privacy – We believe all law-abiding citizens should be free from government surveillance of their electronic communications except in cases directly involving national security, by court order. Except for non-citizens, we further oppose any national ID program, including the Real ID Act and the use of Radio Frequency Identification Chips (RFID) on humans.

American Jobs – We support a favorable business climate of low taxes and deregulation to encourage capital investment, ensuring retention and creation of American jobs.
Texas is not weak. That one sentence is weak. Read the rest of the Platform, at least the others I pointed out in the post you replied to.
David Barton is our male delegate to the National Platform, Bill Crocker is still our National Committee Man. That sentence won’t move up.
On the river side there is a boardwalk ~ actually a nice one, with concrete and steel superstucture so it can withstand floods and bad weather ~ you can go all the way out to the end, in the middle of the river, and fish. There are boats there with small electric motors.
Just across the river there's Mexico. The United States government sponsors a taco stand and it's not just a taco stand ~ they sell prime beef asado ~ sliced just so, and placed gently into the fold of a FRESH taco ~ you can see the Indian woman there at the grill, and she's rolling out corn tortillas, then tossing them on the iron skillet ~ pulling them out ~ stacking them up. Thousands of bottles of Ice cold Dosequis is right there in a bank of coolers.
Vegetable trucks are coming up the road with the finest of lettuce and tomatos ~ fresh picked!
The queso factory can be seen just past that line of trees.
You actually cannot get a better taco in Mexico! Certainly nothing in the United States can equal those tacos ~ no where! Not even homemade and I can do homemade.
So, there you are, in prison, and on one side you could be shot down like a dog if you tried to escape. On the other side it's beer, and a short boat ride to the world's finest tacos.

Remember how a few years back Congress passed a law outlawing medicaid to illegal aliens? I wonder how that is working out, if they indeed are enforcing it.
I would love to know how Parkland Hospital can afford to pay for 1,000 anchor babies born there every month? Are the illegal alien mothers still getting medicaid, even though there was a law passed against that or is Parkland getting some other federal subsidy that makes up for the loses. Many hospitals have had to shut down because of illegal aliens yet Parkland doesn’t seem to have any problems at all. Hmmmm. The money bags person would probably be someone high up like a governor, former governor, former president or US senator.
Maybe the "predator boats" cost something, but they only return to the US Side EMPTY
As a Texan, I'd sure like to see Operation Wetback 2.0. Other than lacking the spine to do so, there's no reason whatsoever why it can't be done now.
