No, It’s not fine

Mitt Romney had to be wondering: Is the president really that out of touch?

And not just Mitt Romney.

At an all-but-impromptu news conference yesterday, President Obama rambled past the latest distressing economic news — and then dropped this bomb:

“The private sector is doing fine.”

No, really.

Then came the president’s even more bewildering diagnosis of the real cause of America’s vexing economic stagnation: Government payrolls aren’t big enough.

“Where we’re seeing weaknesses in our economy,” he declared, “[has] to do with state and local governments” and payroll “cuts initiated by, you know, governors and mayors . . . with fewer revenues coming in.”

It was vintage Obama: It’s not all that bad, but by the way it’s not my fault.

Then came the by-now-routine retrenchment: “The economy is not doing fine,” he conceded at a later press event. “There are too many people out of work.”

And by tomorrow, he’ll have moved on to the next phase: Why are the Republicans insisting that I said what I just said?

Well, of course Romney and other Republicans were quick as cats to pounce.

The economy is most certainly not doing fine: More than 23 million jobless Americans — victims of the longest sustained bout of 8 percent-plus unemployment since the Depression — certainly can testify to that.

And then there are the millions who have flat out stopped looking for a job; they don’t show up in the official statistics.

Job creation remains anemic — and even recent encouraging numbers have since been downgraded; median income is down 10 percent in his presidency.

Obama’s answer?

He wants state and local governments to increase taxes and borrowing so that they can hire more workers.

But while more debt may be a short-term solution in Washington, it doesn’t work...

Payroll cuts by governors and mayors? Is he trying to blame Walker, who resides over a lower than national average unemployment? The numbers just do not lie.

What we're seeing here (and let's hope it continues)is the end of Obama getting away with saying anything he wants and not being held accountable.
In the past a GOP leader Boehner, Cantor, etc would pop up respond and get no further play. Romney has a platform and is using it to put the idiot and chief on the defensive.

We need to keep a foot on his neck until November and people will see what a dumbass they elected.

We're doing better than any communist economy has ever done. To this president were perfectly “fine”.

If we were all working on a government chain gang, eating 3 servings of rice a day but not marching through Washington with torches and pitchforks, we would be perfectly “fine” to him. Really, think about the economic expectations of a communist dictator. He has to be thrilled! We live better than any communist society ever has. We should be satisfied!

I think that his diagnosis is a direct response to the Wisconsin election. It’s one more reason why he is going to a crashing defeat in November. He cannot accurately assess the problems facing the country and thus cannot fashion correct responses.

You and I seem to be only commentators connecting his mal-diagnosis to the Walker election. Gee, we must really being smart!
