Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her Diamond Jubilee a few days ago thats 60 years on the throne. Just to put it in perspective, shes been queen since Harry S. Truman was president. At any rate, her jubilee has been a huge success, save for a few churlish republicans in various corners of Her Majestys realms from London to Toronto to Sydney pointing out how absurd it is for grown citizens to be fawning over a distant head of state who lives in a fabulous, glittering cocoon entirely disconnected from ordinary life.
Which brings us to President Obama.
Last week, the republics citizen-president passed among his fellow Americans. Where? Cleveland? Dubuque? Presque Isle, Maine? No, Beverly Hills. These days, its pretty much always Beverly Hills or Manhattan, because thats where the money is. Thats the Green Zone, and you losers are outside it. Appearing at an Obama fundraiser at the home of Glee creator Ryan Murphy and his fiancé David Miller, the president, reasonably enough, had difficulty distinguishing one A-list Hollywood summit from another. I just came from a wonderful event over at the Wilshire or the Hilton Im not sure which, said Obama, because you go through the kitchens of all these places and so you never are quite sure where you are.
Ah, the burdens of stardom. The old celebrities-have-to-enter-through-the-kitchen line. The last time I heard that was a couple of decades back in London when someone was commiserating with Sinatra on having to be ushered in through the back. Frank brushed it aside. We were at the Savoy, or maybe the Waldorf. I cant remember, and I came in through the front door. Oddly enough, the Queen enters hotels through the lobby. So do Prince William and his lovely bride. A month ago...

Barack Hussein Kardashian!
the lefties HATE it when Rush calls him that.
"Tuesday morning, June 2, 1953: Today covered the coronation of Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms, in collaboration with the BBC. The BBC provided live audio of the ceremonies. Still pictures taken from television screens in London were faxed to the RCA Exhibition Hall studio, where Garroway would show them to viewers. Multiple correspondents from both NBC and the BBC offered commentary and analysis, both in-studio and on location at Westminster Abbey. Coronation coverage began at 5:00 a.m. EDT and concluded at 9:00 a.m. EDT."
NBC Today's J. Fred Muggs (the one on the right) set the on-air decorum standards for modern network journalists. here
Now that is a funny article. If only it were not so true.
How can people support this guy? (I mean the ones who are NOT getting gov’t money every month for couch sitting.)
They only have a Queen...
We, on the other hand have a "Composite" Dear Leader who is a combination of....
We too have a "Queen"....
Better yet, we even have our very own Court Jester...
Game, set, match! M
Brilliant. Funny as hell.
And his main point well taken. No American should DARE mock any queen honor / worship. She is far more a commoner in act and deed than Barack Hussein Kardashian.
Rush has added more than a dozen new words and nicknames to the English language. He’ll be remembered for them...
What’s up with the complete absence of Steyn on Rush this year? Mark Davis seems to be the only remaining Mark guest host.
Gosh, I heard Steyn subbing for Rush perhaps 4-5 weeks ago.
I love Mark Steyn - excellent!
Mark Davis is the most irritating blowhard I have ever heard. When I hear that voice I scream and injure my finger punching buttons to shut him up.
I’ll keep saying it. Rush has to get Steve Malzberg to sub.
Which brings us to President Obama.
