I don’t know about any government grant, but there’s a lot of money to be made in the recyclable market. Laidlaw picks up many a city’s garbage and takes the garbage into their plants and separates it. Only about 10% goes into a landfill with the rest being recycled.

Only if you are getting that recyc-material, post sorting/processing for a sweet discount (i.e. subsidized by a local govt = your tax dollars). Private companies who are forced to collect recycling acutally lose money unless they are getting grant money, and that usually does not even cover costs. Yes, there is $$$ in recycling, but only for those getting the end product after tax payers foot the bill for processing.
