I didn’t notice what Daniels was wearing, the “unfortunate attire” as you phrase it. I was busy cooking or some such but I heard him.

He didn’t look bad, perfectly acceptable for a town meeting at the local feed store.
He may have felt entitled to dress down since he wasn’t there in person but appeared through remote.
It just gave a bad impression. He should have worn a suit and tie. The switching back and forth from the impeccably attired Wallace to the farm boy look just put him at a disadvantage.
Admittedly, a very small thing but I wasn’t the only one who noticed it and complained.
