A controversial Coney Island principal has pulled the plug on patriotism.
Her refusal to let students sing “God Bless the USA” at their graduation has sparked fireworks at a school filled with proud immigrants.
Greta Hawkins, principal of PS 90, the Edna Cohen School, won’t allow kindergartners to belt out the beloved Lee Greenwood ballad, also known as “Proud to be an American,” at their moving-up ceremony.

“We don’t want to offend other cultures,” they quoted her as explaining.

The DOE reprimanded her in 2010 after teachers complained she called the school “racist” and declared: “I’m black. Your previous principal was white and Jewish. More of us are coming.”
Scaperotti said Hawkins is being targeted by the teachers union and has received hate mail, which is under investigation by the NYPD.

unfrickenbelievable. Fire the principal, get rid of the teachers union, disband the Department of Education and crap like this won’t be happening like it is which would have been absurd to think about 20-30 years ago.
That one is doubly offensive, it invokes God and country.
They will never control all the people until they have them totally dependent on the government.
I’d love to see the look on her face if everyone in the assembly stood up and sung it a capella.

People say this as if THEY practice American culture. They are mistaken.
Defund the NEA and bust the teachers unions. They are a disgrace!
Her remark, “I’m black, your previous principal was white and jewish. More of us are coming.” should have not ended with her being reprimanded, she should have had a permanent vacation. If a white principal was working in let’s say Newark NJ where there is a high black population in the school, and the white anglo saxon principal said, “I’m white, your previous principal was black. More of us white people are coming.” It’s not hard to figure out what would happen to this white principal in Newark NJ. He’’d be fired, and Sharpton and Jessie Jackson would scold him and make him pay resitution and reparations for the “damage” he caused to the children and “every black person in America”. That white principal’s reputation would be ruined for life and imagine the death threats he would receive. It would likely be worse than Zimmerman’s death threats.

Sounds awfully similar to the tactics of one Barry Soetoro. Obama has his close circle in his administration and they serve him until they are not useful anymore or can cover for his wrong doings, he will throw them under the bus.
She is worthless. All she has going for her is her color, which she wields like a sword.
Thank you teacher unions for letting scum like this flourish and run unfettered among children.
you’d expect someone to “talk” to the principal considering that many 1 star ratings she received from the very teachers that work under her at that school. This is the very reason the teachers union needs to go as they don’t even do their job, and defund and disband the NEA and DOE.
