You know what?

Gilligan’s Island was sexually charged but only in my mind. Not a thing in the show to make me thing that way but I remember daydreaming about being ship wrecked with Mary Ann.

Yes, Silverman started the purge, citing “research” that showed advertisers preferred to purchase time on more “socially relevant” shows, or those that appealed to younger audiences. To be honest, some of those shows were running out of steam. Petticoat Junction, for example, never quite recovered after Bea Benadaret died. Some were still pretty popular, however, like Mayberry R.F.D., which was the follow-on to Andy Griffith.

I remember the three sisters that worked at the hotel next to the train station. The show always opened with them bathing in the water tower. Oh yeah.

Lots of curves, you bet.
Even more when you get
to the Junction.

I like watching the older shows too. Especially westerns. They make me actually feel like a human being. And a proud American. When I watch modern television programming, I feel an overwhelming need to take a shower, as if some putrid, noxious film has enveloped my mind and body.

“Oh, raise a glass for Clarkwell,
In sleet and snow and hail.
Oh, raise a glass (sniff, sniff) for Clarkwell,
Your diploma’s in the mail.”

RIP Frank Cady.

Mr. Haney cracked me up - - a voice that went with his slick sales routine

And to think that such depraved times as the ‘60s and ‘70s could comparitively be called ‘innocent’ is quite a commentary on our current situation.

Lori Saunders was super hot, as was Gunilla Hutton. Frank also played Claude Daigle's father in a truly bizarre scene from The Bad Seed

Petticoat Junction was never funny.
The Andy Griffith Show never recovered from Don Knott’s exit.
Green Acres was warped. People either loved it or hated it.
The Beverly Hillbillies was a classic.

Agreed re: Lori and Gunilla. “Hooterville”, indeed.

O my, I forgot that Frank Cady played Mr. Daigle. Who was that great character actress that played Mrs. Daigle? I forgot her name. She was fantastic. Her grief broke your heart.

Eileen Heckart played Hortense Daigle who kept telling Christine Penmark (Nancy Kelly), “You’re a superior person.”

Thank you so much! I remembered the character’s name was Hortense but forgot the actress’s name. Eileen Heckart was outstanding and Frank Cady held his own as Mr. Daigle. You felt so sorry for them. Great actors, great movie.

Tom Lester (Eb)was alive a couple of years ago, as he was a guest speaker at a Vitae sponsored pro life gathering I attended.
