Some liberals won’t see the light until they fry under it light ants under a magnifying glass at high noon.

“This article mentions upcoming events in the city such as Taste of Chicago. Do mob attacks such as this encourage, or discourage, people coming into the city?”

What conservative would want to go to Chicago, for any reason?

I spent 30+ years running trains into and out of New York City. For the last several years prior to my retirement, I rarely left the bowels of Penn Station to go up onto the street outside — once or twice a year, perhaps. Nothing up there for me to see....

I worked in the Chicago loop for years and my daughter earned her master's from UIC. She didn't attend her own graduation, they mailed her diploma. I didn't encourage her to attend. Except for moving her out of Chicago when she finished, I haven't been back.

That city -- like most indigo-blue cities -- is a completely lost cause. I think we should just build fences and walls around them, and let the inhabitants do whatever they want.

if the mayhem and chaos of the ghetto is going to spread to downtown and nice areas such as the Near North Side, areas where affluent residents live and tourists visit, is that good for the city of Chicago?

Yes, it's very good for not only Chicago, but IL in general.

these attackers wouldn’t be so brazen if they started getting shot. Too bad the law abiding citizens are not allowed to protect themselves

It is very dangerous that we are losing so much of what was the American experience. We took our only trip to Chicago about ten years ago. Of course, old folks don’t much go out at night, but the trip was great. The Field Museum and Art Institute Museum were first rate as was the best Indian restaurant recommended by a cabbie. However, at the edges you could see the dangers.

In the LA riots, people couldn’t see why the looters and burners only really destroyed their oun neighborhood rather tan attack neighborhoods of those they saw as their enemies (the defense of Korea Town answered that in part). It looks as though now, they are attacking outside the ‘hood.

And “NO!”, I wouldn’t stick around after defending myself, to answer a bunch of stupid questions.

Good point! If you're walking near or in an inner city (Holder's people & 0dumb0's sons) and you have to defend yourself, then skedaddle out of there ASAP right after your defensive actions--whatever they may be. Although I have to question the mindset of why anyone, but especially a white person would be out walking in or near an inner city ghetto. OTOH, if you're a white liberal or a black liberal, by all means, enter in, go for nice leisurely stroll among the feral yutes.

“What are “more cops” going to accomplish, if the thugs are back on the street before the paperwork is done? The thugs need to be taken off the streets, as a first priority.”

I cite the preceding part of my post: “...utterly inept policing that’s leaving peaceful areas unprotected while trying to control the free-fire zones...”.

The current top cops’ idea of “active policing” (politically driven of course) is to flood the problem areas on the south and west sides with cops. Since the force has been shrinking from attrition for years, they’ve had to strip cops from areas like Streeterville and downtown. Between the PC political atmosphere and the total lack of cops in prime areas, the ghetto scum know they can get away with everything short of murder right now.

If you’re gonna take the thugs off the street, you’ve gotta have somebody there to collar ‘em first!

I live in central Illinois about 180 miles from Chicago. "Taste of Chicago" should be an event that I would want to take my kids to. As matters stand, you couldn't pay me enough to go to Chicago. Great cultural events happening there along with museums, major league base ball, basket ball and foot ball. Should be a fun place to visit but no thanks. I value my family more than that.

We took the kids to the zoo in St. Louis a week ago, about the same distance as Chicago and witnessed quite enough bad behavior at the zoo from the entitlement crowd.

Not worth it anyway. It’s the same fifty restaurants, year after year after year....

Or CCW. Perhaps this will convince more Chicago residents to be in favor of CCW and Stand Your Ground.

I wouldn’t say disturbing, but interesting. The reason that gangs tend to stay in their own ‘hood is that when they leave it, the rules change.

I remember the Rodney King riots, when the first night, the rioters entered the Korean neighborhood, and looted it. But the important thing was that, by the second night, the Korean neighborhood was an armed camp. Had any rioter ventured in there, he would have been a dead rioter.

Yet another lesson was that the Koreans didn’t just stop at defense, but made a revenge contract with the Korean mob in Korea, to send over a plane full of tattooed mob killers to hunt down a bunch of rioters in *their* ‘hood and beat the heck out of them. When the LAPD discovered what was going on, they told the Koreans to keep it discreet.

In any event, back to Chicago, when these rich people find out that gangs are invading their turf, they will direct the police to send a message to the thugs. And the police will likely be more than happy to oblige. They will round up a bunch and put them on ice in a bad place for 48-72 hours, and not the typical juvenile hall either. Then they will send them on their way, maybe not even arresting them or pressing charges, just letting them know not to come back, or else.

...is that good for the city of Chicago?

Paging Purple lips, Paging Mooch, Paging Mayor Emanuel, Paging Axelrod, Paging Blagojevich, paging all available Aldermen, paging Penny Pritzker, paging Eric Whitaker: Spill in aisle 7, Spill in aisle 7....

The dems made their bed. Now they can lay in it.

I'll be munching on the popcorn when the full-scale invasion of elite Chicago happens.

You will never get the thugs off the street in Chicago; as long as the thugs are entrenched in and hold the reins of power, in City Hall.

I was at Taste of Chicano, er, Chicago summer of 2007. I looked around and found my self surrounded by a bunch of thug looking characters, each of which had a tattoo on their necks. Never went back, never going again.

“”Groups of attackers.” Sounds similar to “a herd of bison,” “a colony of ants” or “a pack of coyotes.””

A gaggle of geese?
