Thank you for having an open mind. If we limit our defense of our rights to mere pragmatism, we lose them incrementally, because there will always be some momentary, pragmatic reason to restrict them in small but meaningful ways.

These small infringements mount up until the exercise of the right becomes all but meaningless.

End result is negative publicity for gun owners and still some taxpayer money being spent where it didn’t have to be.

If that's true "negative publicity for gun owners ", this act of openly carring has to be repeated until the negative publicity falls on the shoulders of the criminal, not the law abiding.

In this situation the criminals are the police.

"Again, you make sense and I have seen the light."

Thank you! One of the best things about FR is that we are often exposed to the thoughts of folks who have explored a side of an issue that we have not considered. I've come to relish the widening of my vision that often occurs here.

~~~~~~~~~
Even though I live in a very conservative section of rural Texas where nearly every home has at least one firearm, I am sensitive to the "social" aspects of carrying openly. Although I often voluntarily secure my P7M8 in its welded-on lockbox in my vehicle, or in my briefcase, I seldom remove my black Lou Alessi slide holster for it. If I remove my jacket while I'm in a meeting, I make no effort to hide the "leather".
Most folks appear to ignore it. When I do get comments, they are usually of the type,
"Thanks for assuring us you have secured your sidearm elsewhere!"
or...
"That empty holser ain't gonna do you much good!"
Folks invariably seem to focus on and "write off" the empty belt holster -- and overlook my L W Seecamp in its pocket hoster... ;-)
~~~~~~~~~

As one of my friends (who shot my P7, liked it and bought one for himself) says, "There ain't no need for spookin' folks unnecessarily..."

In re-reading your posts on this thread, I realized you are reading and posting as a subject, and the rest of us are reading, understanding, and answering you as American citizens.

Your lack of understanding is accepted. Everything we say (understandably) sounds like gobbletygook to you, as it will to most subjects.

I won’t waste anymore of my time.
