President Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney are in a near tie in Rasmussen Reports first look at the critical battleground state of Iowa.
A new telephone survey of Likely Iowa Voters shows Romney earning 47% support to Obamas 46%. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided

More likely, this poll is oversampling Democrats and Obama could well be down closer to 40% and facing a 60-40% blowout in Iowa.
47-46 ain’t real.
Remember Wisconsin!
Because we're near the tipping point, and a good enough portion of the other side stands to gain from 4 more years of the welfare state, entitlements, or are in the well-paid public sector, or are just plain "takers" with nary a care as to what their kids and grand-kids inherit for a society, country, nation.
I used to work with some guys from Iowa. Nice guys, but every one of them was a Dem. Must be the ethanol.
Considering that Obama won Iowa 54-44% in 2008, this represents a huge loss of support for him.

In reply to your post number 2, it’s because they don’t care and still hope that their dependency on government will be unaffected by the litany of horrors you recited. And in the case of blacks, they bloc vote based on race alone. As for the rest of the Obama cultists, I’ll paraphrase Sean Hannity: If Obama was seen stealing the purse of a little girl on the White House lawn, the libs would excuse it by saying he intended to give it to a homeless man.
Neither, Obama looks to be in bad shape.
“Someone want to explain to me how 46% of the country....”
Easy... that figure is likely very close to population of those feeding at the public trough, in one way or another.
Romney is failing to light anyone on fire, so regardless of all the reasons why not to vote for Obama, this race remains Obama’s to lose.
I think that Romney will win Iowa, but it will be close. He’ll get about 50%, in IA. In 2010, Iowa elected a Republican to the U.S. Senate and a republican for governor.
Just a few observations from an Iowa geezer:
- I see a lot less Obama stickers on cars these days and the ones that I do see are 4 years old. I see quite a few Romney signs.
- Mr Cash for Clunkers (Rep Bruce Braley) barely won his seat in 2010. The 3rd party candidate drew just enough votes to get him re-elected.
- The Ag economy is going gang-busters. Farmers need cheap fuel to keep their profits up and Barry’s cancellation of the pipeline didn’t do him any favors.
- My Iowa son-in-law and nephew are UAW members in their early 30’s and are conservative. The younger generation sees what the debt is doing their childrens future and their retirement plans.
I DO NOT see the Obama fever that existed 4 years ago.
My first thought too. Well, kinda.
Nonsense. I am very fired up to vote for Romney as he is the only one who can puts TJE obamunist from office at this point.
You may want to look at Wisconsin and Minnesota first.
As the economy gets worse, obama flails and flops around, Romney will move way ahead as he does not scare indes or demos pissed off at gaybama.
You go right ahead and be fired up about your RINO Romney, I will never be.
I want to see Obama tossed out of office as much as anyone, but that a$$ Romney will never get my support, before or after the election.
Please don't eat the Choomies.
Obama must go. Romney stinks I agree, but he is the only one right now in a position to oust Obama.
Agreed. I was one who used to say no more of this lesser of 2 evils business, but then came along the Kenyan Marxist, who has taken evil to a whole new level.
