President Obama’s Speech Gets A Thumbs Down From Political Press Corps
Politicker ^ | June 14,2012 | Hunter Walker

All of these points have already been featured in the president’s other recent speeches. Between the pre-speech hype from the campaign, the lack of new material and the overall length of the speech reporters were clearly dissatisfied with end result. Read on for a sampling of Tweets from the political press slamming the president’s speech.

Before the speech was over, Politico’s Mike O’Brien begged the president to stop.

In terms of politics, this speech could have ended about 20 minutes ago. Drive your message, take your ball, go home.

On the air, MSNBC’s Jonathan Alter said it was “one of the worst speeches I’ve ever heard Barack Obama make.” He refused to back down.

Jonathan Alter@jonathanalter

Just cheerleading BO doesn't help him. He needs a sharper, more cogent message with some memorable lines. I ain't walking my criticism back

ABC News reporter Devin Dwyer felt like we were all being lectured.

devindwyer@devindwyer

Obama speech in Ohio felt more lecture or courtroom arg than rally. He streamlined pitch, imbued urgency, said voters will break stalemate.

John Hayward of Human Events compared the speech to a filibuster.

This Obama speech is so long-winded it might be the first attempt to filibuster an election.

Please just flush the toilet in November....end this insane destruction of our country.

I agree with your characterization of the Communist-in-Chief, but I worry that he's a floater. The American people may vote that he goes down the drain, but SEIU, ACORN, and others will try to make sure he's still there after everything swirls around. We have to flush with enough pressure that nothing can keep him afloat. We need every conservative at the polls this November.

Same as 2008, but perhaps the press corps left their knee pads at home.

Obama’s Socialist role models - Castro and Chavez and Kim “Dear Leader” - are all known for their long, didactic lectures (I mean, ‘speeches’).

Pretty bad when the tweets, twitches and threads are more interesting than what he had to say.

Did his speech writers quit so he has to use old speeches about old stuff? I mean seriously, they cannot think this is REALLY great speech writing?

Or has he been left to his own devices?

Just seems strange-it’s really not that difficult to put a flowery, schmoozing speech together when you are a professional liar and everything is made up...wonder what’s really going on in the white hut?

Comparison is unfair to Hitler, who actually did deliver some charismatic speeches. Obama is death by a thousand cliches.

I smell disarray. This gasbag and his flying monkey brigade are so utterly bereft and stymied that all they have left is to try to capture lightning in a bottle - again. Can you imagine the 3rd string flunky who though it would be a good idea to assemble the cable networks for a “major” speech only to load the TOTUS with a lecture from 2008?

My gawd. It is over for Obama. Really, really over.

And on the day of the week where his policies have consistently added at least 350,000 new souls to the unemployment rolls. Just stupid.

I’m going to predict that in the next 2 weeks his numbers are going to crash spectacularly as they head for the exits in record numbers. I think this is going to be an epic trouncing.

At least, I hope so.

” I understand “fair share” is tax the rich, but, I still don’t know what “fair shot” or “play by the same rules” are. “

It all translates to:
“Stick ‘em up!”
