Key developments in the sex abuse trial of former Penn State football assistant Jerry Sandusky
Washington Post / AP ^ | June 14, 2012

Testimony from three more accusers Thursday included some of the most graphic details of the trial’s four days and gave the term “tickle monster” a dark, almost nefarious meaning. Jurors heard one accuser say he spent more than 100 nights at Jerry Sandusky’s home, sleeping on a waterbed in a basement room he thought was soundproof because no one heard him scream when he was assaulted. Another accuser told jurors Sandusky called himself the “tickle monster” before embracing him in a shower.

You know, this story ruined one of my childhood memories - my mom was the “tickle monster” when I was very small and would give me a bath in the sink!.

I have been somewhat amazed that the news media has shown remarkable solidarity and discretion in not revealing the identity with names, photos or even artists sketches of the “alleged” victims. If people REALLY wanted to know, it’s all in the court transcripts. But who really wants to know? It’s refreshing to see that there are still a few lines that they Will Not Cross.

I feel for the jurors who have to listen to the testimony. I wonder if they will ever be the same.

What I find odd is some posters who were all over Joe Paterno regarding this don’t seem much interested in these Sandusky threads.

Nothing odd about it. The second raters had a field day trashing a fallen hero. Then, having sated their sallow egos, moved on.

Sandusky is just small potatoes.

Nope, not moved on, just lurking.

Heh. This really is so incredibly disgusting it doesn’t conjure of the same feeling we have toward Joe.

This is truly, extremely sick and depraved beyond belief.

He deserves god’s worst.

Well, here’s a comment i left, I feel it sums up right and proper my feelings with regard to religion and Sandusky’s punishment:

Oh Jesus will make sure to send Sandusky to hell, and Satan will take pleasure in seeing that his punishment is carried out good and proper! Cretins like Sandusky are why I hope and pray there is a hell, and if I myself go to either heaven or hell, at least I will have the pleasure of thanking either Jesus Or Satan personally for a job well done!

You know, I was thinking about this the other day, and I realized I can’t remember how it was that it all got revealed. I remember the day the story broke, because I remember hubby telling me in the car to find ESPN radio or something so we could hear about what was going on.

But what WAS going on? What brought on these revelations? For the life of me I can’t remember.

I don’t know if what you say about posters here is accurate, but it does seem that the major result of the “scadale” was to cause poor Joe Paterno to end his illustrious life in disgrace. It does almost seem like whatever happens to Sandusky is an afterthought.

That is so wrong and creepy. It just sums up this whole thing so well, so wrong and creepy.

Paterno was more popular than Sandusky so there were more people who wanted to excuse him from responsibility. If Sandusky was ‘the winningest coach evah’ then there would have been more vigorous defense of him from the start. Since he’s a football hasbeen, he has fewer defenders. Similar to the way that Michael Jackson fans insist all accusations MUST be false because he was the ‘king of pop’.

This goes way beyond Sandusky! I hope Paterno has made it down to Hell for his part in covering up, but there are a bunch who are still above room temperature that either enabled or covered up Sandusky’s acts against these kids and they all need to be prosecuted and sent to jail! The court should order that the athletic facility at Penn State be bulldozed, and that the school’s “athletic program” be terminated for at least ten years.

Too bad a parent of one of these children did not beat the freak to death like the one in Texas. It’s awful for these young men to have to re-live this trauma in front of strangers.

What I find odd is some Penn State coaches & Penn State admin people who weren't all over Sandusky's trail of victims...
...and didn't seem much interested in keeping very many Sandusky conversations going on and near campus...
...took a sudden interest in the justice of the victims once the enormity of all this hit...

IN fact, it took a Nebraska assistant coach (not a Penn State rep) to include the line "May the truth be known, may justice be known. May you protect the victims…" in the showy pre-game prayer before the Nebraska-Penn State.

What I also found odd was that Penn State coaches and players weren't seemingly very interested in showy pre-game prayers -- until this all broke.

Whatever "positives" Paterno brought to the Penn State campus, they pale in comparison to THE serial rapist cover-up negatives that he and his fellow Penn State paycheckers wielded to protect their campus idol...the glorious football program and its reputation.

Paterno was more popular than Sandusky so there were more people who wanted to excuse him from responsibility. [Ransomnote, post #10]

Yes...and this also addresses Skeeter's comment on #4...

A LOT of the discussions went further in depth because so many JoPologists came out of the woodwork.

Here’s something we missed a couple of weeks ago.

Penn State counsel Cynthia Baldwin secures lawyer
Published: May 26, 2012
By CDT staff reports — State College - Centre Daily Times

Penn State’s outgoing attorney, Cynthia Baldwin, has obtained a lawyer.

Chuck De Monaco, of Pittsburgh, confirmed Friday that he is representing Baldwin on an individual basis.

He declined to comment on the specifics of why he’s representing her. Baldwin did not return an email seeking comment.

Baldwin has served as the university’s in-house lawyer since that office was created in January 2010.

A former state Supreme Court justice, Baldwin also served on the Penn State board of trustees until moving to the position of university lawyer.

A university spokesman declined to comment.

On Wednesday, Penn State named Stephen Dunham, previously general counsel at Johns Hopkins, to replace Baldwin as the university’s top lawyer. Baldwin will continue in the role until university trustees approve Dunham’s appointment, which is expected to happen at the June meeting.

I’d like to see his wife charged with abetting. She had to know what was going on. I’d be very worried about the grandchildren.

“I’d like to see his wife charged with abetting. She had to know what was going on. I’d be very worried about the grandchildren.”

She’s on my list too. Just think, this coverup was all about college football!!!
A frigging game was more important than these children. Where are our values? College Football is just another disgraceful, perverted “business” that detracts from the purpose of secondary education. The idea that our universities and colleges have become “the farm system” for a bunch of rich bastards who use the secondary “education system” for their personal enrichment. Someone needs to explain to us just how “educating” an bunch of dumb minorities is contributing to the real goals of increasing the knowledge in our young people.
