Actually, Mr. President, You Did Ask for an Argument

Bryan Preston

As Bridget noted in real time, President Obama did not like getting some pushback on his amnesty policy today. In fact, he came within an inch of losing his cool.

Video

The sound bite coming out of that exchange is that the president said he isn’t asking for any arguments. That simply is not true, or given our representative republic, should not be true.

The president announced a major policy change that impacts not just the 800,000 illegal aliens who benefit, it impacts the entire country. By circumventing Congress, it impacts our rule of law. By announcing it in a way that suggests its political origins, it impacts the presidential race.

If the president expected no arguments, then he is deluded. If he will brook no arguments, then he is unfit for the office. He is not a king, and we are not his subjects. We have a duty to push back if we believe that his actions are wrong or illegal, both of which may apply to today’s seismic policy shift.

But the fact is, President Obama damn well knew that he was provoking an argument, and he expects that argument to get heated in ways that will help him keep his job. He also expects to win it.

He will not.

“It’s da right thing to do” is his assigned soundbite. You can hear the wind-up for the pitch. What an empty suit.

“”Wanna-be dictator can shove it!””

I really like your attitude!

I almost never watch Obama pontificate on TV. My BS meter is pretty fragile.

However, I caught this particular exchange and couldn’t tell you how unpresidential Obama looked to me!

He lets a member of the “fifth estate” embarrass him on national TV!

It must be a terrible thing, to be living inside Barack Hussein Obama’s skin, as it is so terribly thin, and affords no protection simply because of its color. Even the one-time staunch allies have been edging away, and like Bill Clinton, if not actively undercutting him, at least cause a series of small cuts at first inconspicuous, then spreading further and further, as the relentless faint praise continues.

Politics is a blood sport, and the sharks have smelled the blood in the water.

Obama is desperate to change the subject. If he can rile up the right to focus on this issue maybe he won’t have to talk about the horrible state of the economy. This is machiavelli politics at its simplest. His polls no doubt tell him debating this issue will be better for him.

I think a few of those lines would make a great anti-Obama ad!

“It’s da right thing to do” is his assigned soundbite.

"I didn't ask for an argument" should be played over and over again. It shows his arrogance and ignorance so plainly. A smart ad man can beat him all the way to Election Day with that soundbite.

No, I’m sorry. When you behave like a king and not like the President of the United States, you are asking for MORE than just an argument.

“I didn’t ask for an argument” is something you say to your child when you tell them to do something.

Arrogance and liberalism go hand in glove.

This is what happens to these mental people. When confronted as they make their idiotic points, they go off the deep end and do anything to stop opposition.

Well you arrogant POS, you may not want an argument but you sure as hell got one! Thank you for taking the time to wake up millions of Americans who haven;t been paying much attention to this election!

The empty suit that has blamed everything on everyone but himself now sees that he will be blamed for a failed 4 years. Hope and Change has been revealed to be nothing more than a modern version of snake oil.

Boehner should bring it up for a vote in the House.

Force the Dems to be on record.

See how many of them are willing to go down the tubes with Obama.

I am King! I did not ask for an argument.....

Then when is the time for questions? Does he ever field non-softball type questions?
