Family worries about own survival after father suffers brain damage in baseball bat attack
The Commercial Appeal ^ | June 15, 2012 | Beth Warren

Kadia Sy hovered over her husband's nursing home bed Thursday, stroking his cheek and forehead, and shaking his shoulder as if to snap him back to life.

But her husband, beating victim Alassane Sy, 67, didn't respond. He suffered severe brain damage April 6 when prosecutors say a teen delivered two blows to Sy's head with a baseball bat over a parking dispute.

While the victim's wife was desperate to wake him during a visit to Covington Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, the couple's son, Djibril, 17, seemed more resigned.

"He's never going to be the same," he said of his father, who immigrated to Memphis from West Africa a decade ago to improve his family's lot.

(snip)

Alassane Sy, a warehouse forklift driver, pulled into a parking spot next to a Jeep Cherokee driven by Tanya C. Wilkins, 33, a waitress. Moussa opened the door and hopped out of the car.

Prosecutors say Wilkins, who had parked on the white line leaving little space, accused the 12-year-old of dinging her driver's door, something the Sys say didn't happen.

(snip)

Wilkins' son, Mariquez Moore, 15, walked up behind the victim and raised an aluminum baseball bat in the air before striking the victim in the head with such force, Sy collapsed to the pavement unconscious.

(snip)

Wilkins was due in General Sessions Court Wednesday, but didn't show up because she had been shot Sunday in an unrelated incident, her attorneys told Judge Gwen Rooks. They didn't elaborate.

"What part of Memphis do you live in? I feel NO need to carry a weapon"

LOL - You must also not feel ANY need to carry fire or auto insurance either. Cause where you live bad things do not happen.

“Weigh if whatever’s going on is worth discharging your weapon or getting into it with someone else.”

And there in lies the problem... Can you imagine if an armed white guy had gotten into a confrontation with these thugs and discharged his weapon when the 15 year old came at him with his baseball bat? We would be seeing nonstop pictures of harmless little Mariquez when he was a 10 year old little league player.

When the wife and I are packing we avoid all confrontations even more than normal. Even when you are 100% in the right if you use your weapon who knows what the legal ramifications would be.

What an unbelievable chain of events.

I have to say, in certain cases the muslims have it right. In one of those countries, filth like this is taken care of. She’s either an animal or severely mentally ill, and in both cases should be shut down permanently.

Here, she’s probably go to jail for a short amount of time, cause no end of disruption, and within a few years get back on the street and kill someone. Killing someone’s brain is murder and she should be executed.

“What part of Memphis do you live in? I feel NO need to carry a weapon.”

When one of my kids was living in Nashville I used to pass through Memphis when i would go to visit. I got tired of having to go way around to get through that town. So one time I got out a map and saw that there was a main-drag straight shot through town and I took it. What a shock, I went back to taking the long way after that.

I feel no need to wear my seatbelt either. But I do it because of all the intangibles that cannot be predicted...

I suspect most of us looked at the story to see the race of the victim. Then we see it. Then we say to ourselves “of course, if the victim had been white (as in Baltimore, Chicago, Atlanta, and numerous other ‘cosmopolitan’ cities) it wouldn’t have been reported...or at least the race of the victim would not have been reported.

That’s one of my favorite questions to ask anti2A Libs.

“Why do you need a gun?”

“Do you own a fire extinguisher?”

I would bet that 15-year-old Mariquez Moore, son of Tanya Wilkins, has never even met the worthless stud who sired him. Meanwhile, the nine children of the African immigrant whose life Mariquez destroyed will do their daddy proud by overcoming great odds to bring his dreams to reality. There’s a Father’s Day lesson in this. But I would bet the people who most need to learn it will never even hear the story.

Read the whole thing. If it were up to me this pos 15 year old Mariqiz Moore would be tried and executed within 30 days. We have thousands and thousands as murderous as him that need swift adjudication then execution

Mariqiz Moore assualt put this man in a brain damaged state, he is now a vegetable, the taxpayers will be picking up the tab I am sure. For all that Mariqiz Moore needs to be tried and executed

Lorenzen Wright was murdered out near you, but I can guarantee that it was black on black and had to do with some aspect of the drug trade.
