Romney won't say he'll overturn immigration order

BRUNSWICK, Ohio (AP) — Mitt Romney is refusing to say that he would overturn President Barack Obama's new policy allowing some young illegal immigrants to stay in the United States.

The Republican presidential candidate tells CBS” ”Face the Nation” that if he’s president, Obama’s executive order “would be overtaken by events … by virtue of my putting in place a long-term solution.”

Romney was asked three times in the interview if he would overturn Obama’s order, but he didn’t directly answer the question. Instead, he said would work to pass a law to help those young people who were “brought in by their parents through no fault of their own.” Romney said he doesn’t know why Obama “feels stop-gap measures are the right way to go.”

The candidate’s comments represent a further softening of his rhetoric on immigration since the GOP primary campaign ended.

There is absolutely no reason for Romney to comment on this pandering crap until after the election.

Heard the exact same thing repeatedly said about Bush by the GOP groupies years ago.

No sale.

Great points, TN.

If "the “Dreamers” sign up for Obama's cockamamie plan, they will be swearing on official documents that their parents are coyotes and subject to deportation.

Furthermore, Obama's plan says ....illegals will be "immune from deportation" if they have "no criminal history...."

TRYING TO CLEAN UP THE LEGAL STATUS OF THESE CRIMINALS IS A BIG, BIG PROBLEM:

+++How many forged/faked Social Security numbers do they have?

+++How many fake identities do they have?

+++How many fake identities are they using to take money under false pretenses----riding the US gravy train?

+++Do they have valid drivers' licenses?

+++Have they ever been falsely claimed under different identities on IRS returns for EITC payouts?

+++ Did they get SS nos for their offspring and fraudulently use the nos to get money under false pretenses, riding the US gravy train?

=================================================

REFERENCE----ICE's "documents and benefits fraud task force" found a common practice among "impoverished" illegals is to buy several forged/faked identities for several thousand dollars each----the illegal then votes and rides the US gravy train under several names.

<><> Jose Madrigal---the Washington state rapist--- had some 30 identities. And probably voted and collected US benefits under every single identity.

<><> Another illegal used multiple identites to bilk UI systems of some $3.5 million.

=========================================

US Dept of the Treasury Says Illegal Aliens Collecting Billions in Tax Credits According to the US Dept of Treasury’s Inspector General, more than $4.2 billion in additional child credits were paid out in 2010 to illegal immigrants. In 2005, the pay outs totaled $924 million. This program allows low income earners to claim a $1,000 per child credit.

$20 billion EITC is estimated to have been paid out to these cunning "impoverished" illegals. Most of them are collecting over and over again-----using multiple identities-----falsifying official apps---claiming children they do not have and/or falsely stating kids are back in their homelands.

REFERENCE March 8, 2012 KENNER, La. -- Kenner police arrested illegal Marvin Baca who sold false W-2 forms to another illegal immigrant for $1,500. Baca sold fraudulent W-2 forms for $1,500 to other Hispanics here illegally.

Police said that on one of the forged W-2 forms had a SS no of a person living in Virginia. Police said illegal Hispanics purchase fictitious W-2 forms and file false tax returns with the government to receive EITC refunds. Baca was charged with one count of ID theft and two counts of forgery.

“That’s EXACTLY what happened in California once they tried to crack down on Illegals.”

Of course that’s not true, but then you’re in Texas so you wouldn’t know any better.

Then, Einstein, tell us all how California turned from a Republican state (as late as 1995) to the BASKET CASE that it is today - IN ONE ELECTION.

If immigration is your #1 issue, more precisely illegal mestizo immigration, Romney is going to be a very tough pill to swallow, since he's obviously for it.

Romney : illegal mestizo immigration = Obama : homosexual "marriage".

I've come around to the "gotta vote for Romney" view, even more so because NH is "in play", but I'm not happy about it - and immigration isn't one of my top 5.

For those for whom immigration is #1 - what a crappy position to be in.

Either you vote for democratic/socialist/communist/marxist obozo ...

OR, you vote for Romney, WHO IS NOT a democratic/socialist/communist/marxist. Big, big differance here.

Your premise contains a huge falsehood (in bold above). Despite Mitt Romney's party affiliation, his record in office is as left liberal as any radical Democrat's. A quick review of that record, which has been posted countless times on this website, proves it beyond question.

Lie to yourself if you must, but don't ask others to join you in self-deception. It's not honorable. Neither is Mitt Romney, who claims to be "severely conservative", when his entire history in politics indicates that he's anything but.

A close comparison of Romney's record as Governor of Massachusetts, and Obama's record as president, reveals striking similarities in their actions as chief executives. It doesn't take a political savant to see that their agendas are nearly identical, or that their initiatives produced the same outcomes.

I suppose the best you could say for Romney, is that he was a lot less offensive to the people, while he served his leftist masters.

As I've said time and time again, if we simply must vote for Socialism for another four years, it would be better strategy to have a president who Congress will oppose, than one they'll roll over for. If Romney wins this race, you can expect the coming Republican dominated Congress to roll right over for his liberal agenda.

Romney could have turned this right back toward the narrative:

“This decision certainly won’t help Americans find jobs, and it won’t help our $1 trillion US student loan debt crisis.”

Romney could have threaded-the-needle, saying:

“Americans are compassionate people. Hard-working young illegals should seek private sector US sponsors to *VOLUNTARILY* help them to apply for legal status in this country, enter the country legally, and help cover their full college-tuition costs [no Federal, State or Local government subsidies for their education costs].”

The biggest problem is SC nominees from Obama’s second term. That could impact the nation is a serious way. However, would Romney’s picks be much different? What a quandry

There are quite a few of them (Freepers for Obama) and they cloak themselves in hyperbolic "Christian" piety, declaring that a vote for MR is nothing but a vote for the lesser of two evils.

They don't want anyone to remind folks that any vote that will not count in getting obama out is an enabling vote for the greater of the two evils.

If even Ronaldus Magnus couldn't bat a thousand with his Supreme Court picks, what do you think a liberal like Romney's going to do?

When Mitt was Governor of Massachusetts, two thirds of the people he appointed to the bench were liberals. Not looking good, no matter who wins in November. We're going to have to concentrate on electing solid conservatives to the Senate to hold the line on the next Supreme Court picks.

I think we’ll be pleasantly surprised by how conservative Mitt Romney’s Supreme Court picks are.

But we absolutely know what Obama’s would be, so there’s really no choice, is there?

What evidence, pray tell, are you basing that confidence on? Certainly not his record of appointments to the bench, which skewed to the hard left.

Sounds like conservative Hope & Change to me.

That’s why I stopped contributing to the GOP altogether.

There are more worthy groups, like the Patriot Party and Wounded Warriors, to send my money to.

The country is in bad shape but I do not think that the GOP has the ability nor the desire to improve the situation. I have found them to be a bunch of invertebrates.

The highest in history.
But not as a percentage of GDP. Interesting how you don’t address that crucial point.

And, as I said, you also conveniently don’t address the many attempts Bush made at reforming things when a bubble was becoming apparent.

Your evasions are the typical ones often used. They’re not based on the facts.

I’m quoting Bush calling for no-down-payment loans. Hardly an “evasion” when I quote the idiot’s own words. As for my citing the 2005 deficit number - you don’t deny it’s the highest number in history until then, you try to evade with obfuscations about “percentage of gdp”. Proves once again, there’s no arguing with a Bushbot. At the end of the day, the proof is in the pudding: most people consider him a terrible president, and his failure is what elected Obama.

Obama set the trap for him. He needs to walk a fine line right now. obama was counting on an angry, negative response so the media would all over it. Right now, Romney has momentum on the economy and he needs to continue to hammer obama on that number one issue. Obama’s 11th hour immigration B.S. is just his usual pandering to the demographic of the day and the people get that.

Did Obama do his 11th hour pandering too early?

Too much time for it to settle in and refute it.
