EXCLUSIVE MONDAY PREVIEW | OPINION

Panic sets in at the White House

By John E. Sununu | JUNE 18, 2012

President Obama said, “the private sector is doing fine.”

It’s been a tough couple of weeks for President Obama, one of those stretches where everything seems to go south at once. The economy is soft, his poll numbers are down, and Europe has the markets on edge; Romney is even beating him in the money race. What was once hailed as personal confidence — or condemned as arrogance — is long gone. Panic has set in, and it’s making Team Obama do strange and disturbing things.

In Wisconsin, the result was merely a bit of comic relief. Fearful of making a personal appearance in a losing cause, Obama couldn’t even bring himself to phone it in. Instead, he packed the power of the presidency into a 95-character tweet endorsing Tom Barrett’s challenge to Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. Barrett, a plainspoken former congressman, is far too nice to speak the truth: Thanks for nothing.

Next came a more pronounced gaffe: Obama’s statement at a press conference that “the private sector is doing fine.” Panic can make anyone say crazy things, but blurting out irrational statements isn’t exactly ideal for a president of the United States.

Aides tried desperately to walk things back, but the damage was done precisely because it revealed an element of truth about Obama................

Sadly you are wasting your breath trying to convince anti Romney people to understand that a no vote or a write in vote is no different then a vote for Obama.

They didn’t get their way and rather then just get rid of the puke in the WH and at least have a chance at changing the country’s direction they will take their football and go home.

I’d vote for a tree stump if that’s all we had as a candidate rather then see the current fool remain in the WH.

"If Ron Paul & Company can correct that, I’m all for it."

As am I and I'm sure every other FR member. But what if Romney IS in the end the nominee? Will you support the Rep nominee or stay home?

Good posting (#33 I think), cricket! I tend to think also that FMD was possibly the BHO dad and definitely a major influence toward his belief in communism/socialism.

Are you trying to encourage people to help Obama? If not, what possible good can you accomplish by denigrating the only hope we have of ending Obama’s reign? Do you actually think that every negative thing there is to say about Romney hasn’t already been said? Do you care that posts like this don’t help any conservative anywhere but are a tremendous boon to America’s number one enemy? No one cares who you do or don’t vote for, but this constant Romney bashing is juvenile, serves no good purpose, and is getting tiresome.

I would really like to have a chat with some of those who told me four years back that no one could be a WORSE president than George W. Bush. Unfortunately, I never see any of them because the place where we worked has been closed down since November 18, 2008. I was a part timer so I worked my last day there in August of 2008 when they sent all of us part timers home. I told them that regardless of who out of the crop of candidates in the running became president they would see the day that they would want to go back to the Bush presidency. They thought I was out of my mind.

I will never forget the period between the Obama victory and the inauguration, there were two camps of people here, those who, like me, saw it as disaster unprecedented in our experience and the starry eyed idiots who actually thought something wonderful had happened. They could not understand why the rest of us could not see the pink unicorns and the huge cornucopia overflowing with all things wonderful and good.

The pathetic part is that he is not even really black!
Lock him inside without a sun lamp for a season and put a hat on him to cover his nappy hair and he could be mistaken for a skinny Caucasian. He is MORE white than black. He simply calls himself black like that stupid woman who claims to be Cherokee. She may as well claim to be a Jeep Cherokee.

Vote for Romney but elect as many conservative local, state and Congressional/Senate members as possible.

In MA Romney had to contend with a state legislature dominated by liberals. If Congress is controlled by republicans, then we the ability to influence the policies of Romney.

...”the thing that put him over the top was his being black”....

Ummm, sorry, he is at MOST half-black, but not really even that. Barack Obama’s “blackness” was carefully cultivated by him to smooth his path through life via Affirmative Action and white guilt.

Dear Rita...I am afraid your Theology is ALL wrong.

if God is pleased to save us from another morally deprived abortion loving president partial to adopting innocent children out to queers.

God:" if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."

Sure...God would LOVE nothing more than to save this land...but this land will have to repent FIRST. In the context of this passage we have a NATION blessed and protected by God...becoming cursed by God through that hand of divine protection being lifted.

Therefore it is the NATION that has to repent of its abortions...it's homosexuality....it's lusts and adulteries...it's idolatry.

We, as a Nation, are not. We are still heading headlong towards judgment. Matter of fact...there are FReepers who are reading this right now...maybe even having been raised in a Christian home...who think what I just wrote (and in reality what God SAID) is ridiculous.

You want to save this nation? Get it to repent and pray for that. We get the president we deserve...the rulers we deserve. And frankly...because of the sin of 50 million abortions ALONE (not to mention the condoning of Gay Marriage across the land, et al). we deserve worse than Obama.

You have my full throated agreement on that. IF God is pleased to save us......, without repentance, and that is a big IF, I will be astounded. No repentance in sight so far.

There will be no repentance so long as the Church relies on nominees to pull our fat out of the fire for peace in our land.

We have two Progressives (short for socialist/communist)before us, and a ton of fine church folk falling in line to go vote for one of them. Both nominees have an oral and legislative history strewn with support for depravity, in their abortion view, their gay view, their self proclaimed Progressive view.

Repentance comes with refusing to vote FOR this agenda.
There is too much risk to trust in God they believe.

Repentance is accomplished by trust in God. Few have trust in God to trouble with repentance in a panic, given the state of the nation and the world in crisis.

The panic of the people creates the pandemonium and their vote for Romney, followed by LOTS of false justification and rationalization for doing so, rather than backing up, backing out, taking a deep breath and trusting God.

There is a reward for trusting God and resisting evil when the Church repents, but faithless people do not repent, and seldom resist. Fear is preferred instead and they select a man to save them.

We shall assuredly have to fall much lower than this before we get the picture and holding us back is sheer faithlessness and panic. Period.

...and he continues to enjoy his time on the golf course

I understand he uses his BlackBerry quite a bit while golfing. Has anyone ever verified that he actually plays 18? His actual play time is closed to the media.

I wonder who he is talking to while he is supposedly "playing golf", and what they talk about.

Were he not black, his performance and the state of the economy would guarantee the loss of any other incumbent.

More than that: he'd have already been impeached and be the first President actually removed from office. Because that hasn't happened is all due to fear of being called racist.
