We want SCOTUS to rule against severability, right? That would mean the whole thing gets shot down?

The whole thing will get shot down. I remember one of the justices saying if you think I’m going to read it, you’re nuts. He just said it better.

Yes, although 68% of SCOTUS experts think the mandate is severable—i.e., only 1/3 think the whole thing will get shot down. But 56% think the mandate will get axed. These experts have roughly a .600 batting average in predicting SCOTUS outcomes.
