Authorities are saying that they are not treating the shooting of three people in Mission as an attempted honor killing.
The suspect Talal Nimer is facing attempted murder charges after shooting his estranged wife, their daughter and their daughters boyfriend.
Mission police the gunman's Muslim faith did not play a role in their investigation.
But when quizzed on why he did it, the Lebanese man admitted that he didn't like that his daughter was dating someone who's not Muslim.
He also felt his daughter's boyfriend was taking over as the man of the house.
Honor killings of young women dating outside their families Muslim faith or ethnic groups have been reported in England and Germany.
Another girl was killed in the Phoenix area by her father after she allegedly refused to enter in an arranged marriage.
According to Mission Police Chief Martin Garza, Nimers religious beliefs will not be taken into account.
Garza said police will they'll focus on several other factors.
The first is that Nimer and his estranged wife were going through a divorce after he admitted to cheating on her.
The second factor are statements from the family saying Nimer had previously threatened to kill them.
Currently, both the mom and the daughter's boyfriend are out of the hospital after undergoing surgeries.

His faith did not play a role in it. The victim's "faith" did. There you go.
muslims can do no wrong, no evil, dont’ch know? And if you insist on calling muslims violent, they’ll just be forced to kill you.
Just like this wasn’t an honor killing, Major Hassan shouting “Allah Akbar” while murdering all those people at Fort Hood was actually just an incident of “workplace violence.” It had nothing to do with islam.
Nothing to see here, just move along... And don’t forget to bow down before your muslim masters... The US (and many state and municipal) governments will make sure you do, and that you know your place.

Sounds to me like the Mission cops need more diversity training in order to better understand the perp’s faith and why he killed.
Rumor is that they're bringing in OJ as a special consultant.
Thats funny...lol
OT, but this will make your day:
Christian protestors taunt Arab-Americans with pigs head on a stake at Detroit festival
Christian missionary groups crashed an Arab-American festival on Friday night armed with a pigs head on a stake and placards making bigoted remarks and promoting the hatred of Islam.
Tensions flared when the protesters, from an organisation called the Bible Believers, attended the annual Arab International Festival in Dearborn, Michigan, waving signs with slogans such as Islam is a religion of blood and murder and Muhammad is a liar, false prophet, murderer, child molesting pervert.
Another offensive placard read: Repent, be converted, that your sins may be blotted out and one missionary shouted Youre gonna burn in hell to a group of Arab-American boys, according to Detroit Free Press.
I think it’s sadly ironic....but yea - funny too ;-)
Kill 'em!
I don’t think they are saying that it’s not an honor killing, just that their investigation isn’t focusing on that.
Heh. That’s funny right there....
I don’t know, I figure they might have another reason besides just PC for making that statement. Police are pretty careful in what they say during an investigation, since the defendant’s lawyer can seize on anything to try and claim misconduct. They may just want to make sure he doesn’t get off on a technicality because of some statement they make to the media.
This is just another brick in the wall. The police were either
IGNORANT and by that unqualified for the trust placed in them. Or they understood that our Judicial system is overrun with
Judges who do not give a tinkers dam about America. (which ,if I am correct— suggests a structural fault in our system and we are equally endangered) Either way the failed recognition of the truth that this was indeed an honor killing does not bode well for our Country.
