Naming a communist warship after the town in which the Czar and his family were murdered apparently carries some bad juju.
Nice photo. I can see the rust.
Then again, the town was named after Catherine II aka Catherine the Great (who tried to dissuade her subjects from using that appellation). How ironic is that?
Any word on how long it will take to fix the burned USS Miami?
“Any word on how long it will take to fix the burned USS Miami?”
Not yet. The damage and cost of repair is still being assessed by the navy. The current estimate is $440 million.
that’s not rust it’s patina LOL
With that coating off, you can probably hear that thing coming with a dictation microphone dipped into a swimming pool on the other side of the world. I wonder why they bother continuing to operate it in that condition - it would seem to have little strategic/deterrent value.
They've lost another submarine?

I’m not sure that I would want to be on the next dive. From how it sounded, I think it’s going to take more than a call to Servicemaster to straighten it out.
That is one butt-ugly submarine...looks like a hunchback.
Looks more like Sunlight reflecting off the coating.
Then again, it is Russian.
Then there is this beauty.
