Mitt was born in the US to US Citizen parents. There is no need for him to be naturalized....in fact the quality of his birth is one of being a Natural Born Citizen. Period.

We are not discussing Mitt’s birth in he US. His place of birth has never been disputed. You are aware I take it that George Romney was born in Mexico, to parents residing permanently in Mexico due to their prosecution of their polygamous belief derived from their Mormon faith.

My original comment was pointed toward the question of was George ever formally naturalized? You are saying that it doesn’t matter. That he was automatically made a citizen which would automatically give Mitt NBC. I am saying it that might not be the case.

I do not know what the custom of the time was but today, a birth of a child to us citizens abroad has to be reported to the consulate. I doubt if George’s father was withing a week’s travel of any american consulate.

Then you have to ask, when George was brought in the US was he ever naturalized through contact with the US Goverment or did he just fly under the radar. His father designated him as a us citizen on the 1910 census. Is that enough? Can a US citizen actually take the authority to determine if their child is an US citizen? Are you sure they can because you would have too in order to believe that George was made a us citizen outside of any process.

There exists a possibility that George was not an American citizen when Mitt was born which of course would cause Mitt problems.

I apologize for calling you a moron but I am equally irritated by your condescending comments especially the childish “ta ta sonny” which may simply be a staple of your normal conversation. What irritates me the most about about you though is that you think you run this place.

You are no Jim Robinson and you will not tell me what I can or can not do.

“You are no Jim Robinson and you will not tell me what I can or can not do.”

You need to read the stated policy of Free Republic, ie Jim Robinson, on posting policy. To wit, in part...” Please: NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts.” This policy is just below the reply box. It’s hard to miss. Though I’m sure at this point that you can manage it.

You are out of line using abusive language and ad hominum attacks in posts to other FReepers. Yes, you can flaunt those rules at your own peril.....enough warning to the wise.

If you had read my home page you’d know that “ta ta sonny” is my kiss off to a fool........If you had any curiosity about who you were posting to and their perspective you’d have known that. Then again your reading comprehension skills appear to be lacking, and reading someone’s About Page might still leave you clueless, I looked at yours, BEFORE first posting to you.... it’s still blank after 6 years as a FReeper. That in itself says alot about you.

None of your posts make much sense. you skip back and forth between subjects, setting up strawman arguments for youself. It is an immature manner of discussion, irratating, and disrespectful to both the recepient of your post and the FR readership in general.

Your return post diregards my post stating “George Romney, Mitt’s father, was born in Mexico to US citizen parents. He is a born US citizen per US law. No need for his being naturalized. Period.”

The progression of thought is...

Mitt’s grandfather, born in the USA, is a born US citizen. (probably a NBC)

Mitt’s father, George, born in Mexico to US citizen parents is a born US citizen. (Non NBC) This is true because of US law which recognizes children of US citizens born outside of US borders to be born US citizens from the earliest days of the Republic.....

Mitt born in the US to US citizen parents is a born US citizen....a Natural born citizen.....”born in country to citizen parents.

....somehow that simple progression of thought has totally escaped you, as you persue a single minded and falicious train of thought.

You continue...”My original comment was pointed toward the question of was George ever formally naturalized?” Answered by myself and others.....Born citizens do not need to be naturalized. Period. It is the definition of “born citizen.....all of the Romneys have been born citizens. PERIOD.

There are many reasons for me and others to not like Romney as the Republican Nominee, nor as a potential US President. Your wild and unknowledgeable speculations about George Romney are not among them.

The last time.....sigh...My kiss off to a fool....

Ta-ta sonny! (Get it now????)

Then apparently you are ignoring Jim’s wishes considering your use of Ta Ta Sonny to me.

It’s not automatic that a person born to a us citizen is a citizen. It’s the general rule but it’s not automatic.

The birth has to be registered with the us government at some point. Where did George’s father register George? Do you know the answer to that?

As far your home page goes; why on earth would I even think about visiting it? Why would I care who you are. My guess is
you are either military or ex military but I don’t know and I don’t care.

I apologized to you for calling you a moron yet you didn’t acknowledge it. That and your incessant need to call me a fool speaks volumes about you as a person.

I believe now that you are the one here who needs to apologize.

I agree. My guess is that the reason the republican leadership rolled over on Obama is that they don’t care anymore about the constitution then the democrats do and had they taken up the NBC issue relative to Obama it would have caused them two problems.

First of all, it would mean’t that they would be likely running against Hillary Clinton and second, they would have ruined Rubio and Jindal’s chances of running for office.

Between the Reps and the Dems I don’t think this country stands a chance.
