MEET KAREN HARRINGTON – She’s Taking on Debbie Wasserman Schultz
Gateway Pundit ^ | June 19,2012 | Jim Hoft

Posted on 06/19/2012 12:26:05 PM PDT by Hojczyk

Meet Karen Harrington – Republican Candidate For Florida’s 20th District She’s taking on DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz in district that looks more and more like it could swing right.

Now this is exciting news– I had the distinct honor this weekend to interview Republican Karen Harrington at Right Online in Las Vegas. Karen is a small business owner and has been running a family restaurant with her sister for the last 30 years. She is taking on DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz in a district that looks very competitive this year especially after the recent redistricting. Suddenly this is a race to watch. Karen is just the candidate to take out Obama’s mouthpiece in the same year that Barack Obama is tossed from the White House.

My favorite line from the interview is when Karen says,

“The problem is whatever Debbie’s going to say is usually not going to be the truth. And the fact that she would go to Wisconsin shows how desperate they were.”

Beautiful. Karen is my kind of conservative.

That's what she gets paid to do. Lie, spin.

(run example video)

“That’s why she was chosen to represent these guys...”
(run video of recent Obama & Reid lies)

If she would REALLY take her on, it would be worth $10 million on pay-per-view

Renee Ellmers ran in a district that had given President Bush 54% in 2004, while Harrington is running in a district that gave President Bush what, 39%? For that reason alone, I don’t think that Harrington has much of a shot at DWS.

I know. It used to be even more Democrat, having given President Bush only 36% in 2004. As redrawn, I think it gave President Bush 39% in 2004, but maybe I’m wrong and it gave him 40% or 41%; in any event, it is a heavily Democrat seat, and it would take a small miracle to beat even as annoying of a Democrat as DWS (unlike in NC-02, where Renée Ellmers had a good base of Bush voters from which to gather a majority against Bob Ethridge).

Horrible service

by Jen (1 review)

Im a food lover and know many good restaurants and this grill has good food but their big problem is their employees, their management are terrible, some guy named Octavio and the other one Manny to into an argue with my husband were he was insulted and threatened by both and at the end we called the police. Long story short we were a table of 15 people including kids and we told the server we didn’t want the sauce because it tasted bad and to brings us another one, at the end they ended up charging $2.00 for a small side of sauce and we didn’t agree to pay it because it was not consumed but the manager came up to my husband with an attitude and screaming and even call me stupid when I asked to respect us. I wont ever visit these restaurant again in my life since it was the worst experience ever.

Old menu, old prices

by Joyce (1 review)

The food is ok. Occasionally order take out from Rickey’s. Don’t go by the prices on the posted menu. Most of the items offered are the same, but the prices are considerably higher, portions are the same. Ex: Chicken finger dinner of 4 pcs has gone up from 6.95 to 8.95. It’s really only a fair price. The quality is average. This review is for the Silver Lakes location. I’m not crazy about this restaurant, but I don’t totally dislike it either. My best advice is to beware & don’t expect too much.

The place to go on Friday night when it’s been one of THOSE weeks

by Ashley and Luis (41 reviews)

Have you ever had a week at work where you just can’t catch a break? And then you have to pay your bills, balance your checkbook, clean the house, go to the grocery store, take care of family...and Friday night rolls around and you still feel so far behind, and you think “I just want to kick back and relax for 5 minutes!!” Well this is THAT kind of place. No, they are not going to rush to take your drink orders. No, they are not going to serve you anything beyond bar food. But the music will be decent, they’re open late, and they have a great special on a pitcher of beer and a plate of wings, and the booths are dark and quiet. So when you have just dealt with too much all week and want to relax with a beer and a snack and some “grown up” time, this is a great place to go if you are close by. We get the medium garlic wings and a pitcher of beer. Makes for a great, relaxing night.

Ehhh

by SKT (27 reviews)

Let me start off by saying that I reallllly hate driving and try to not stray too far from home. So I was really excited when we bought our home that everything we need is within a mile or two of the house. I was also excited that Rickey’s was so close to the house since my hubby loves to go out for wings and beer on Friday nights. We went to this restaurant about 4 times and we finally gave up on it. While the servers were very friendly, and the wings were really good, the rest of the menu is so bland and boring. Frozen Lean Cuisine meals are more flavorful. It was consistently mediocre, for the same price we’ll drive the extra mile and head to Quarterdeck when we want wings/burgers/beer.

I have never written an on line review before, but this had to have been the worst experience ever. I had given up and stopped going to the older Pines location because of the horrendous service, but had high hopes for this one. We were the only patrons in the entire place, had to wait 40 minutes for our food which came out cold and had to ask for drink refills. Do not waste your time or money- and trust me, they wont care of you are there or not.

Been going there for a few years now, service has been good but don’t go on weekends at primetime it gets very crowded and does take a bit longer. Food has been decent and hot lol, our kids always eat the ultimate nachos! I love it there and staff knows us pretty well, but menu is in need of updating badly. Whenever we don’t feel like cooking it’s only like 5 min from our house,( nice backup)

I have given up on Rickeys

by Halfhill (1 review)

Rickys is either good or bad. July 4th they were awful. My Daughter and I went specifically for wings. We have been eating there for 9 years. We were served charred burnt wings that crackled and crunched when bitten. The white meat was dried. The cook said that is how they are cooked and refused to replace them. We chose to leave. Out bill for not eathing lunch was $13.99. That was 2 sodas and a small bowl of chowder. Go figure!

Neighborhood Dive

by Louis Rosas-Guyon (12 reviews)

I like Rickey’s but it is a dive. It’s not the kind of place you find sleaze drunks passed out and sloppy, but it kind of looks like that. It’s the kind of place you recognize from those 1970’s Clint Eastwood country movies sans bikers.
The food is greasy and about what you’d expect. I like it because the food is fast, hot and consistent. We’ve had lunch here a few times and I have no problem coming back.

poor service/indifferent management

by K (1 review)

They were NOT busy, a weeknight. Had to wait 10+ minutes for our server to take drink orders, almost that long for her to bring back and then missing a coke, got that after sevearl minutes. Finished drinks, she still had not come back, had to go to bar ourselves to get another drink. Appetizer then came. Food came well after appetizer was finished and while still hot it was obvious had been sitting for a while, besides fries being soggy. Another server had to be flagged down to take back fries. After they FINALLY came back by yet again another server (almost 2/3 done with rest of food) it was even more obvious the first batch had been sitting for a while since those were so hot and crispy. First server never came back to ask how things were. She finally comes to bring bill, asked her for a couple of boxes, she comes back with 1 even though what was left on my plate alone filled 1 box. Husband is terribly upset by now at slow service so goes to bar to pay bill and tells bartender... more »

If you live in the FL-20, I would encourage you to donate to Ms. Harrington even though it will take a small miracle for her to beat DWS; it’s possible that the district will become less Democrat as time goes by, and we need to soften her up to increase our odds of beating her someday.

However, if you’re looking for more immediate dividends, two Republican House candidates running in Democrat-leaning districts but with much higher chances of winning (their districts gave President Bush around 46% in 2004, as opposed to around 39% in the redrawn FL-20) are Adam Hasner in FL-22 (coastal Broward and Palm Beach Counties) and John Quiñones in FL-09 (Hispanic areas in Orange and Osceola Counties).

The district's boundaries have been redrawn. It improves her odds, but she is, by no means, a shoo-in. That said, I sure hope she overcomes the odds. Defeating that b*tch would be sweet, indeed.

Yes, Republican odds were improved a bit by redistricting, but President Bush got 36% in 2004 under the old lines, and I think I remember seeing (or estimating) that he would have gotten 39% under the new lines.

Defeating DWS would be one of the sweetest victories in what should be a very sweet 6th of November, but it is the longest of longshots. Florida Republicans could, however, defeat President Obama, Senator Bill Nelson, Alan Grayson and Lois Frankel, which would be sweet indeed.

“Could she be another Renee Ellmers?”

That would be nice, but Broward County, Florida, is far more liberal than the central North Carolina district that Ellmers was elected in.

This is a rematch for Karen Against Debbie W-S. I believe with help from various national Tea Parties and conservatives, she can defeat Debbie this time!

http://www.redstate.com/4ricopetrocelli/2011/04/07/karen-harrington-rematch-against-debbie-wasserman-schultz/

Excerpt:

Harrington won the Republican nomination in 2010 and went on to win almost 40 percent of the general election vote against Wasserman Schultz.

According to a statement released on her website, Harrington stated that “the duty that comes before all others is safeguarding the prosperity and liberties of the people of the 20th Congressional District, and I will never waver in my resolve from that commitment.

“I will be a tireless advocate for proven ideas that roll back government regulation and taxation and allow South Florida’s small businesses to prosper. Ours will be a campaign of new ideas and real hope for the future direction of our country, and I intend to take our campaign’s message directly to the district’s constituents early and often...

Her new 23rd district went Obama by 62-38. Her old 20th went Obama by 63-36 and Kerry in 2004 by 64-36 (so Obama actually did a few tenths of a % point worse than Kerry).

The article incorrectly still has DWS in the 20th (it’s been correct at it’s source).

So this new district is slightly better than her old one which she won 60-38 over this same GOPer.

I fully support making an attempt but this district is a bridge too far unless Debbie is implicated in serious criminal allegations. I’d urge area people to give $$$$ and support first to West and then to Hasner before tilting at this windmill. This article greatly exaggerates the competitiveness of the district.

Let yourself be overjoyed if she pulls the upset of the decade but don’t get your hopes up.
