Asians have surpassed Hispanics as the largest group of new immigrants to the United States, according to a new study from the Pew Research Center.

The study, called "The Rise of Asian-Americans" and released on Tuesday, reveals that Asian-Americans also have the highest income, are the best-educated and are the fastest-growing racial group in America.

About 430,000 Asians--or 36 percent of all new immigrants--arrived in the United States in 2010, according to U.S. census data. About 370,000, or 31 percent, were Hispanic.

Why don’t politicians pander to Asians the way they pander to Hispanics?

The non-Muslim Asians are smarter than the average POL. The POLs know they are. They will not buy the POLs BS stories.

Asian immigration to this country is a good thing.

Asians value achievement - educational and economic. They are respectful of others, especially elders.

Our country benefits when we import hard-working achievers - which should be the goal of legal immigration.

Most of the Indians who converted to Islam were from lower castes. They felt they were held back by Hinduism, and wanted to joined a system where everyone was equal.

But several hundred years later, they are less likely to be well-educated and qualified to emigrate. Most of the Indians who come to this country are from the middle and upper castes, and have families who can pay for expensive private education.

I’m surrounded by Asians (Chinese) at work. They do not understand American culture and bring their communism with them.

I’m also married to an Asian woman born and raised until 16 in communist Laos. She doesn’t know the concept of America. I have to teach her our culture.

So, I don’t think this immigration stat is necessarily a good thing either. At least the hispanics tend to be Catholic and not athiest and communist.

Latino kids have cultural issues as many are stigmatized for acting white. Asians have bad kids but they are not celebrated except in bad Mickey Rourke films. Finally there is distance. NYC to the New Delhi, Seoul or Shanghaiis an obstacle compared to NYC to the DR or Cartegena. Distance makes the country of origin into the old country not my country.

This is not very clear. Could you rewrite this part more clearly? I never heard of Mickey Rourke.

Thanks for the explanation.

I could never figure any Asian being liberal. It seems to go against everything they actually practice. Hard work, long hours, learning English, being reliable etc.

I've never seen an Asian person looking for a handout, but a lot of their politicians and voters certainly do.

lRourke is an actor of big ego and modest talent. Made his bones in the Pope of Greenwich Village. A couple of years later he played a cop bent on cleaning up NYC’s Chinatown. Chinese kids were shown as dealers hookers and murderers. They were portrayed like Coppola portrayed the mafia, like being bad was cool.

The difference in the LSM not saying legal immigrants and documenting how many illegal Hispanics entered the country during that period.

Distance makes the country of origin into the old country not my country.

A while back, George Will created a nice phrase for that when he explained why early Europeans assimilated in America where current Hispanics don't. He said the Europeans were "psychologically guillotined" and because of the distance from the homeland, faced a sink-or-swim scenario that those weeping across the border didn't.

[sidebar]When I saw the article, the first thing that popped into my mind was "Well, that's one group who won't be fighting with the Blacks or Hispanics (some of them) for a piece of the welfare pie." From personal experience, where the others band together to fight "The Man", the Asians band together to put their people through school or to start businesses. Yeah, I know there are some bad ones, but they seem to me to be a minority in the numerical sense.

Asians are the only good thing about Ann Arbor Michigan. They don’t bother anyone, they’re intelligent, they’re educated. They really are some of the most pleasant people in the world to talk to.

I am so with you. My daughter is Chinese.

She likes to watch the news in the morning so she "can be smart." She's known as "the little ambassador" at school, because the administration always shows her off to parents looking to put their kids in that school. She can spell and write her first name. She knows all the letters of the alphabet. She can count to 14. She knows her mom's phone number in case of emergency. She is trained in self rescue flotation. She loves for dad to take her to Starbucks in the morning. She can operate an iPad, and has her own iPod Touch.

My daughter is 3.

In my years teaching in my JHS Inever heard a Korean, Chinese, Bangladeshoi call his country “my country’ Conversely I rarely knew a Dominican, Colombian, Mexican etc, who didn’t. There was one memorable exception. A Columbian kid named Juan Carlos,JC to his friends. He always talked of how grateful he was to be here, but how much he loved Colombia. He graduated in the early 90s. he came back to visit a few years later, after the US had beaten Colombia in a World Cup Match. I said “JC, who did you root for?” He said “The USA!” Sometimes they do join the fold. as did another student from the DR. He joined the 69th NYNG and was KIA by an IED in Iraq. I’m proud I taught them both.
