Spirited: The underlying issue here is eternity-—salvation. Salvation is the Ultimate Gift. It can be freely accepted or freely rejected whether through indifference, intellectual laziness (ignorance), or outright hostility.
America’s schools have fallen into neo-paganism because large numbers of Americans are more interested in lower things—self-gratification—rather than higher things— salvation—hence they place their children in gov’t-run and financed schools because it serves their interests. Those parents who really are concerned about higher things will and are removing their children from gov’t schools even though it means bearing a much heavier load.
It seems that a separation process is underway.
We who acknowledge Jesus as Lord are called upon to present the Gift, so to speak. But we cannot make anyone accept it, for as Athanasius said, all people have freedom of choice.
Yes, I’ve read the enormously insightful Swartz and Noebel. How tragic though that in our time the voices of Swartz, Noebel, and many others are heard by too few.
That’s good, but I expect it to fall on deaf ears.
