First they say she is hard of hearing so I am unsure if she even heard anything.

I watched the whole thing. She heard it, all right. At one point she tried to get through to the kids in the way a loving grandmother would -- they were mocking her handbag, and she showed it to them. It was a fabric printed with virtue words like "integrity." She told them it was words she tried to live by, hoping at least they would show a little curiousity. But these morally neglected demon spawn were too far gone to show the slightest interest.

That woman resembled my own sainted grandmother, who overcame a hard life as an orphan to become the matriarch of a large family and a pillar of her community. The culture was Judeo-Christian and Constitutional in the first half of the last century, so it was possible to do that then with no schooling beyond 6th grade -- and remain a woman of virtue.

My heart goes out to the bus lady, and I hope she is able to retire without having to subject herself to any further abuse from other people's guttersnipes. Now I'm going to go send her my five bucks. Hope thousands more people do the same.

I just wish she would have done her job a bit more that is all. She was sitting....I would have gotten up and got in their face and told them to sit the heck down. Oh well she won and will become a weathy woman from it.

Your post touched my heart. Karen looks a tiny bit like my beloved grandmother, too. She had a weight problem but was so kind and loving towards me. It also touches my heart that so many Americans are reaching out to help her. That is what America does best: private charity and caring for others.

I want to donate a buck to the cause. I wonder if anyone knows how to do this?
