When impersonating a police officer, beware of pulling over an actual police officer.
Thats what did in one alleged phony cop in Prince Georges County.
Anthony Kenneth Mastrogiovanni was driving his white pickup truck on southbound Route 301 in Upper Marlboro, Md., about 4:10 p.m. Wednesday when he attempted to perform a traffic stop on a Capitol Heights police officer in her personal vehicle.
Mastrogiovanni told the officer he was a military police officer from Louisiana and advised the officer that he was speeding, police said. The officer in turn told Mastrogiovanni he was out of his jurisdiction and having blue and red emergency equipment in his truck was against the law in Maryland, police said.
The suspect left the area, and the officer called Prince Georges County police and followed the suspect until they arrived.
Mastrogiovanni, 29, was charged with impersonating a police officer and was released on personal recognizance.
Police want anyone who may have been victimized by Mastrogiovanni to contact them at 301-856-3130 or anonymously through Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS (8477).

A Barney Fife wannabe.......................
wow..looks smart..
So what was his intentions when stopping people?
Bribes, rape?
The dork should have said he worked for ERIC WITHHOLDERS DOJ, he’s so dumb the cop would have believed him.
"It's all fun and games until Barney Fife pulls you over."
Looks like a prime cadidate for the ATF, DEA, SS,...
I swear this must be a Maryland thing. Twenty (or was it 30...it’s getting vague) years ago I knew a couple knuckleheads that ran this scam in the Baltimore area. Their motive was to extort sexual favors from girls. (”Little missy, I might forget this whole thing happened if you were to...”) I wasn’t sure how much of it was bragging and how much was BS, but something bad happened to them and they knocked it off.
He’s so sad.....
Which was it, a he or she?
I think “her” refers to the police officer who was stopped.
Poor grammar, should have read: “...perform a traffic stop on a Capitol Heights police officer, who was in her personal vehicle.”
Hmmm, the off-duty officer just let the guy leave? Weird, I can think of almost everyone in my dept. at a minimum proning this dip$hit out on the shoulder via the barrel of one of their off-duty weapons. If it was someone on my squad he probably would be planted into the prone position with some ‘gentle’ help.
“Which was it, a he or she?”
Sometimes you can’t tell.
A steady wanker if ever one was. Sheesh, Mastrogiovanni, go pick some zits.
Underlines mine. What the Hell?
I hope they throw the Book, then a Desk at this guy!
This guy is in the front running for Dumbest Criminal of the Month.
