Yes, anytime the criminal mind senses that the cops are too busy to pose an obstacle, crime happens.
In the event of even a mild breakdown of civilization, the cops will all be on traffic duty, minding every intersection with a light — and cleaning up after every accident that happens in the 99% of intersections they’re too understaffed to handle.

If you are a prepper and you are living month to month, then you are in a very vulnerable position. What is going to happen to all of your preparations if something goes wrong and you suddenly lose your home to foreclosure? I recommend that everyone have an emergency fund that will be able to cover all bills and expenses for at least six months.

Catch 22. That author lost half his new prepper audience right there. If someone is living month to month, it is nearly impossible to stow away six months living expenses. Sure, it's a good idea for everyone but for many in today's economy, it's just not feasible. Of course, they should have started prepping when times were good and putting back a few paychecks but he's talking about a new prepper so can't play could'a, should'a, would'a.

10. How will I fight off boredom?

Seriously? That's a top 10 concern? If you're that bored, I can certainly find something for you to do - get out and tend the garden, get some water, wash the dishes, wash the clothes, wash yourself, do an inventory on supplies, start digging a new privy, bury the garbage, help with repairs, help rebuild the house, patrol the perimeter, feed the dogs, feed the chickens and rabbits or go barter with the neighbor. The only time you'd likely be bored is sitting in an emergency shelter far from home and your preps so that prepping isn't even in the equation.

If I'm doing it, he's thinking maybe I know something he doesn't.

You do. Those IQ points aren't going to get him very far in a crisis.

“Trust no one that you do not personally know. Even the little old lady down the road will rat on you if she is hungry when the SHTF.”

“There are more preppers out there than you might think. Don’t be afraid to reach out and make new friends.”

Which is it? Can’t be both.

“10 - Get Educated And Stay Flexible”

“Get educated. More than anything else, avoid the “name Ash, Housewares” (”mountain man”) posture. Extremely dangerous for city slickers or anyone else in many ways unimagined.”

It’s also important to shop smart. Shop S-Mart.

Ya got that!

There ought to be at least some things with which preppers can agree.

One thing I would propose is that the scenarios for which we prepare are going to be such that MILLIONS of innocent people are going to die and suffer.

Liberals believe that everyone deserves help, no matter how lazy, stupid, or evil they may be.

My belief is that people will need to deserve help. If I were to expect help from someone, I would expect to somehow deserve that help. If that means that I must spend 16 hours a day fetching firewood or water for someone else who was wise enough to stockpile antibiotics, then that is what I expect to do.

If there are angry preppers, then I believe that much of their anger comes from the fact that many of the scenarios we fear and anticipate are entirely UNNECESSARY. It is liberal policies which have mired the world in unpayable debt and created classes of people without the productive capacity to feed themselves. Altruism is a luxury that will be in very short supply.

5. Your pets may not survive.

This would mean I was dead. I will defend my pets just a hard as I will my family.

I started prepping as soon as I realized Obummer was going to be elected resident of the White Hut. After a while I wondered if what I was doing would work in a true SHTF event. My wife and I quit going to the grocery store for a month to see how we’d fare...what an eye opener that was. After a few adjustment, I do believe we are ready. I will say that it remains a challenge to stay prepped on all fronts at all times.
