The Supreme Court this week will conclude its term by handing down much-anticipated rulings on health care and immigration, President Obamas remaining priorities before the justices. It is a finale that cannot come quickly enough for the administration, which has had a long year at the high court.
In a string of cases as obscure as the federal governments relationships with Indian tribes and as significant as enforcement of the Clean Water Act the court rejected the administrations legal arguments with lopsided votes and sometimes biting commentary.
The administrations win-loss record will sting a lot less, of course, if the court upholds the constitutionality of Obamas signature domestic achievement, the Affordable Care Act.
The court also will decide the fate of Arizonas tough law on illegal immigrants, which the Obama administration challenged in court before it could take effect. The governments argument that the law conflicts with the federal authority to decide immigration policy got a sour reception from the justices, but the government hopes for at least a split decision on other aspects of the measure.
The administrations ungainly portfolio at the Supreme Court this term has drawn attention from all points on the ideological spectrum.

Look for a royal ass-kicking by SCOTUS tomorrow.
I hope he’s having flash-backs of the classless attack he made on the SCOTUS assembled for the State of the Union address in Jan. ‘11. In a just world, that should come back to bite him.
I pray the SC does the right thing to not hurt the millions of Americans who do not deserve the crooked politicians and their ilk on healthcare and immigration.
Yes.
It might be Thursday. The Supremes are scheduled to release verdicts tomorrow and Thursday, and generally save the best for last. Then again, they might release everything tomorrow just to get an early start on their summer vacation.
No US president in history has ever had an easier time of it. Imagine what President Reagan could’ve achieved had he had even 25% of the media on his side, much less the 98% that Mr. Obama has in his pocket! If Dubya had been black or Hispanic do you think we’d have seen all the “Chimpy McBushitler” crap and the rest of the abuse?
Gadzooks! Are that that stupid at the WaPo? Evidently so... as they do not know the difference between "too" and "to" usage--
That's a mouthful right there.
Let's expect Obama to be triumphant at Court and ride the wave into his second term. This way we won't be disappointed.
It wasn’t meant to be “too close”. It was intended to be “to close” as in “to close the term”.
Knowing Obama he will have all court records sealed by,Executive order .If things do not work out how fearless leader demands
Americans have had it with other Americans living on another American's dime. If ever the government performed one task better than the free markets, speak now, or forever hold your peace. (Some might say "national defense" but lets get real, it's never been tried privately. Put some profit in closing the border, conquering oil-rich countries, and smashing terrorist rats (like Iran's leader) and the Market will deliver.
Central Planning fails against the Profit Incentive every time. Ask Russia how those Five Year Plans have worked out?
Umm..."to" is the correct spelling in that sentence.
"That that stupid" in your reply however, is incorrect.
Just sayin'....;)
I wouldn’t place too much faith in the Supreme Court. Please remember that they voted against the University of Michigan students who sued against reverse-discrimination...and lost...to that same Supreme Court.
Barry gets the beach slap tomorrow.
A “tough term” at the Supreme Court for our embattled little President Oblamo? Poor baby. Maybe he ought to think of the potential consequences next time before he flips the bird at the Supremes during his next State of the Union speech. Oops! I forgot. He won’t be giving any more of those.
Bendy, do as I do here in Spain, read the local WaPo edition... 'cause if you don't know Spanish, the WaPo makes sense for once!
