How Republicans made it possible for the Supreme Court to rule against the mandate

In a 2008 profile of Axelrod in the New Republic, Jason Zengerle quoted Ken Snyder, a Democratic consultant and Axelrod protege, on his mentor’s approach. “David felt there almost had to be a permission structure set up for certain white voters to consider a black candidate.” The “permission structure” relied heavily on “third-party authentication,” which is to say, endorsements from respected figures or institutions that the targeted voters admired.

If you think back to the 2008 campaign, you can see Axelrod slowly building this permission structure around Obama. Right before Super Tuesday, Axelrod rolled out the endorsements of Ted and Caroline Kennedy. Right before the election, he rolled out Colin Powell. The timing and nature of the endorsements were meant to make an African-American candidate with an international upbringing and the name Barack Hussein Obama into someone that Ohio steelworkers could feel comfortable voting for. If Ted Kennedy and Colin Powell can back this guy, so can you.

“Permission structure”? Give me a break. Did it ever occur to this guy that people wanted to vote for the guy because he’s black? What possible other reason was there to do so?

By the way, correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Colin Powell black? Why would a stupid, racist, white hard hat from one of the flyover states need permission from a black guy to vote for a black guy?

I voted for Ken Blackwell at least twice, and voted for other blacks as well. I never needed anyone's permission to do so. This is more liberal loony-tunes thinking.

The Washington Post is basically stating that stupid, racist white people had to be charmed into voting for a mulatto politician, raised in Indonesia and with no verifiable accomplishments to his name by 'endorsements' from leftist figures who supposedly were respected by said racist whites. I guess that includes Obama's supposed Republican opponent, Arizona Senator John McCain, who, a month before the election stated that Obama was "a decent person and a person you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States." Thanks for telling us, John.

WAPO is also setting up the excuses for the Supreme Court finding the 'individual mandate' unconstitutional. In the Post's contorted explanation, the Court's ruling was engineered by a sneaky plot generated by those evil, dastardly Republicans, copying the angelic Democrats method of getting racist whites to vote for The Smartest Man On The Planet and One we were not truly worthy of but who would lower himself to rule us out of compassion. He being Barack Hussein Obama.

Excuse me while I decide to LMAO or puke - or both, in that order.

I think this is actually interesting, despite the obviously retarded parts. That Axelrod believes this, and actually teaches it to his proteges, probably means one of two things.

Either Axelrod himself has the type of psychology which needs a “permision structure” to accept for a Black candidate, and he is mistakenly projecting this onto the voters he is targeting.

Or Axelrod is actually right. The type of white Democrat who will elect a Democrat Presidential Candidate needs some authority figure to vouch for a Black American, with a wink and a nod, before they will honestly view him as acceptable, assess his bonafides, and step up and vote for him.

Interesting.

Yeah, that’s another one. I have a feeling we’d all be pretty surprised if we spent a day in a Liberal’s head. It’s a lot different than what we are used to.
