I remember seeing/hearing Ted Kennedy do the same thing. I thought how absolutely arrogant the bastard was just belching out noises, making the noises sound as though they were sentences, and ending the noises with phrases such as “...and GOD BLESS AMERICA”.
The people would stand up, and cheer boisterously for the fat a-hole standing there with the smug expression that had just completed a “speech” consisting of nothing but mime of the pig. The only thing said was “God Bless America”. Nothing else was said, just noises that people accepted as a speech.
THAT experience years ago was an eye opener.
