Rasmussen Reports ^

Most voters still want an immigration law like Arizona’s in their own state and hope the U.S. Supreme Court upholds the legality of the Arizona law this week. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 55% of Likely U.S. Voters would like to see the Supreme Court uphold the law that Arizona adopted to reduce illegal immigration in the state. Just 26% would like to see the high court overturn the law. Nineteen percent (19%) are undecided.

Isn’t declaring openly that one state will be treated differently than another a de facto, a priori violation of the 14th Amendment’s equal protection clause?

The administration is at war now with it’s own citizenry. That’s no way to run a railroad.

Scotus’ decision basically throws the decision regarding immigration to the Federal level. It just so happen Obama is the president today. With right president and Congress, immigration policy can be strengthen. Obama made policy change (eg withdrawing the agreement with AZ police) in haste, only hours after the decision, without the benefit of this survey. Clearly, he’s on the wrong foot political wise.

I agree. This decision isolates Obama as the problem-specifically his refusal to enforce federal law. I'm not sure we want the states to be put in the position of having to "vigorously enforce" federal laws.

Perhaps it is best that now our only remedy is to vote him out.

With Napolitano's refusal to cooperate in verification of status, the Obama administration oversteps even more, and exposes the Dems' true motive-to pander for votes of Hispanics at the expense of everyone else. Even if the whole law had been upheld, this would have been Obama's move, and we'd be right where we are now.

Again, the remedy is to vote someone into the White House who will uphold their oath of office.

Obama has violated his oath of office, and that becomes yet another reason to "impeach" him on Nov 6.

It’s pretty clear that it matters not what voters want. Even with the ruling, OJanet basically flipped AZ the bird and told them to pound sand.
If I were SCOTUS, I’d pass down an unambiguous Obamacare ruling with teeth. I think it’s highly likely that by the end of day Thursday, Obama will, by fiat, declare whatever the Court sez to be a win for “Him” and proceed to cram the mandate down our throats regardless.
Really.... AZ was the shot cross the bow.
Obumocare will end up being a cagefight between the One and Justice Roberts.

I think a fair response to this title is more like

55% or more...want the US government to Uphold the Immigration Law.

Arizona law was nearly a mirror of the federal law and all AZ wanted and still wants is for the law to be enforced as it is codified.

The government cannot pick and choose the law or we cease to be a Republic.

When a government goes rogue and becomes a regime...is it time for the people to exercise their true first Right as described in the Declaration of Independence?

Why the hell are they pushing on with this

Maybe it's connected with Obamacare. Some of the posts around here in the past day suggest that people are so fed up with illegals (and the Fed's refusal to enforce immigration laws), that they'd willingly carry (and display to LEOs) a proof OF citizenship. National ID? COLB tattooed on forehead, or what?

Wouldn't that be convenient - provided that "the law" would be on the same side of the law as the citizens - but it would be decidedly inconvenient when it came time for the feds to round up the Obamacare offenders. "Hey you, citizen, you haven't paid your tithes to Obamacare."

Probably a lot of other situations where disclosure of American citizenship could be hazardous to one's health.

romney is the guy that the republicans want us to vote for... and he refused to answer a direct question yesterday... on whether he supported the Arizona law or not. He does not answer any controversial political questions. He hides his true intent. He will not uphold his oath or the Constitution... or he would have answered quickly and correctly. He panders to the latino illegals also.

I am worried that roberts will vote to uphold obama care... I truly am. We cannot trust him after this decision... Scalia wrote as to why.

He promised to “fundamentally change” America—Yes he did and with the help of a complicit Congress and a corrupted Court
he will continue to deconstruct these United States. In his global jihad he sees a world without borders without any
power strong enough to stop the Beast. His Administration has done NOTHING to protect the States from the invasion from our southern neighbors. His administration encourages and embraces EVERY enemy. We have put our fist in the face of Almighty God and rushed to elect this first half black ,half American President-and now cry God Bless America

Our best hope is to DUMP Romney on the first Ballot in Tampa.

Just vote to ABSTAIN on the first Ballot, and vote for a Dark Horse Republican on the second Ballot.

Roberts, who called 0 for lying in the State of Union? I don’t think so!

The decision on the Immigration case was done for the next government officers.....Roberts may know something we don’t.

If obama is on the wrong side vs the public and the SC says this is the feds role - then make lemons out of lemonade and use this to illustrate that obama is not doing his job. Of course he can say no president including reagan cared about the borders but obama is president now. Then obama will say we need “comprehensive” immigration reform. Our side should refuse to discuss anything like that until the border is sealed.

Obama withdrew the agreement with ALL states yesterday.

The federal agency also announced the nationwide suspension of the program, saying it would no longer sign new agreements with state and local law enforcement agencies.
